What’s Up: February 2022

Hi friends, welcome back! February seemed like a busy month that just flew by! Usually the year starts off slow, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. Jon and I ate a lot of good food, went to a museum, had brunch with friends, celebrated Valentine’s Day, watched plenty of the Olympics, and spent a lot of time planning our anniversary trip. We had a few nice days sprinkled in February, and I’m very much looking forward to spring!!

On to my post 🙂 I’ve been linking up with my first and favorite blogger I ever read, Shay Shull, for my What’s Up posts. Each month I’m answering the following questions:

What I’m eating: February was a good month of eating between the Valentine’s treats and some cool restaurants! I’ll be sharing my Foodie Friday this week 🙂

What I’m reminiscing about: visiting Jon for our first Valentine’s Day in 2018. We saw The Book of Mormon and had an insane milkshake from Black Tap. This may be when my foodie dreams began haha. If only I had a better camera back then!

What I’m loving: After reading this post from my fellow blogger Dave, I had my wedding related posts created into a book from pixxibook and it turned out incredible!! Now I can have our whole wedding story in a book with all of my favorite pictures. We will cherish this book forever 🙂

What I’m Up to: I’ve been making great progress on my name changing, the process is actually a lot less painful than I thought it would be. I got my passport back in a few weeks (shocking!), applied for global entry, changed my Delta airlines account, and my credit card. I’m just happy to have all my travel documents updated well in advance of our trip because I can only imagine all the potential issues if I procrastinated…

What I’m working on: planning our trip to Paris and London! I have all our flights and accommodations booked, excursions picked, now I just need to book excursion tickets, tours, and find the best places to eat. Luckily I had my friend Hannah to guide me on the London portion of our trip! I’ve never been this organized with trip planning and it makes me very excited! I have nightmares that I don’t plan enough and miss all the cool things, but that definitely won’t be the case. Now the hard part will be waiting until we can board our first international flight in three years!

What I’m excited about: all my trips planned this spring! I’m going hiking in Utah with my mom and sisters in May, and then Jon and I are heading abroad so it’ll be a busy month! I had an ambitious 10 year travel plan I made at the start of 2020…that plan is not happening, but I’m excited to be crossing countries off our list again!!

My favorite post of the month: Seaport Museum, Lightship Ambrose & Wavertree Ship Tour. I seriously had the best afternoon touring these ships and learning more about my neck of New York.

What I’m watching/reading:

We’ve been watching a lot of the Olympics, we have one episode left of Seinfeld and I’ve been putting it off because I don’t want the show to end. I love winding down before bed with Jerry, George, Elaine, and Kramer! We also watched Loki , The Falcon and Winter Solider, The Woman Across The Street from the Woman in the Window, Inventing Anna, and a lot of golf and football! Clearly our TV got a lot of use this month haha.

February wasn’t a big reading month for me, probably because of all my time spent with my nose in some Rick Steves’ Paris and London books, but that’s ok with me 🙂 I read two books this month that I thought were good, but not page turners:

  • The Island of Missing Trees by Elif Shafak
  • Four Winds by Kristin Hannah

What I’m doing this weekend: We still need to go to The Met to see the Walt Disney Exhibit

What I’m looking forward to next month: March Madness! I haven’t been keeping up with college basketball much but I always love making my bracket…that is until it goes up in flames ha! Here’s a major throwback from my freshman year of college – I’m holding the Z. You could find me at every home game front row behind the commentators, I took Michigan State Basketball very seriously!

What are you looking forward to next month?

  1. Looks like a busy, happy delicious month Lyssy. Glad you are planning some great trips. London and Paris are great cities we return to again and again. Stay well. Allan

    1. A very busy, happy, and delicious month indeed. I’m trying to travel as much as we can before we start settling down.

    1. Thank you! I got to overwhelmed thinking about making a photo book myself, so this was perfect! I just typed in my website and picked which posts to include and in about a week I had my book 🙂

    1. Thank you! It is such a wonderful reminder of our big day and fun honeymoon. The quality exceeded my expectations.

  2. What a great picture to finish off the post! Must’ve been Izzo’s 400th victory? It’s an off-year for Sparty (and the Wolverines, if it’s any consolation) but you still have one of the best coaches in the game. Come March Madness, stay conference-loyal and pull for Purdue instead. The Pixxibook looks really nice (love those superimposed titles). I’m glad to see another example besides mine, and know it’s a consistently well-made product.

    1. Yes it was his 400th victory, I was there during a great period in MSU sports. I’m hoping MSU will hit their peak in March, but I try to have low expectations so that they can surprise me. I was very impressed with the Pixxibook and so glad you shared it!

  3. The wedding book looks amazing! Happy to hear that you are planning some incredible trips. London is an incredible city, we’ve had a fantastic week, with enough sights for at least a dozen articles.

    1. thank you! I can’t wait to read about London, I’m sure I’ll get a good history of the things I’ll see from you. We will only have 3 days in London, but it’ll be a nice glimpse of the city.

  4. Oh that cocktail in a bird glass is too cute…and is that lasagne further down coming out of a bowl? I also absolutely love your photo book…….and I’m sooo excited for your Paris and London trip. I may end up being around as our May holiday was to Estonia and Latvia, so who knows what the state of that will be come May with everything going on in the region. x

    1. I so hope you can go on your trip!! Who would’ve expected this… The world keeps getting crazier!

  5. Oh, a trip to Paris and London is super exciting!!! And next time we’re in New York I want to go to Black Tap for one of their crazy milkshakes!

    1. Black Tap is great! The milkshakes are so filling, I also enjoyed their burgers!
