Hi friends, welcome back to my last spring post of the season. I don’t have much new to say about Central Park after all these years so this post will be picture heavy. We visited the park on a beautiful spring day for some family pictures with our photographer Emily.

After our pictures we headed up to the Conservatory Water nicknamed Model Boat Pond. I’d never seen the boats in the water before except in the movie “Stuart Little”. They had very professional looking people controlling them with large remote controls. My subsequent googling informed me the Central Park Model Yacht Club members race their boats every Saturday from 10am to 1pm. Average parkgoers can rent boats afterwards and throughout the week. Maybe we’ll try our hand at it one day.

Heading north we walked along the Reservoir to find some magnolia trees in full bloom.

The Conservatory Garden is one of my favorite spots in the spring.

The tulips drew quite a crowd.

The Davis Center is a new $160 million dollar addition to the northern most part of the park. This project took seven years and is the Central Park Conservatory’s biggest undertaking. Per the website, “With a state-of-the-art pool, an ice rink, and multi-use turf field, the Davis Center offers year-round programming, including fitness and wellness activities, cultural events, and youth programs. Visitors can explore the restored shoreline of the Harlem Meer, gather in beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces, and participate in free or low-cost activities for all ages.” The Davis Center officially opened last spring, but this was the first time I’d seen it up close. In the summer the turf field turns into a giant pool.

Hope you enjoyed seeing spring in NYC with me. We are off to Italy later this week, I’ll see you all when I get back 😊
I would like to see that area again when the giant pool is open and by the way……where did Violet get that beautiful curly hair?
That pool used to have a 3 hour wait when it first opened. We are wondering the same thing! My hair is wavy. Jon thinks she was switched in the hospital ha
Beautiful shots of spring, the park and the three of you, Lyssy. It is good to get out and see nature no matter where you are. We loved our visits to Central Park when we came to NYC. There seems to be something new around every turn. Happy Tuesday. Allan
Thank you! Central Park is always a good idea and there really is always something new to see.
What a beautiful addition the Davis Center is! Your family pictures and all the park shots are great!
Thank you! It is a great addition to the park, people are especially happy with it in the summer when the pool is open.
Beautiful photos! Have a great time in Italy.
Thank you!
It is nice to see how well taken care of the Park and area is. Mitchell Silver, who was a former urban planner for the NYC parks, I knew him and his family. They had a second home in the Catskills and were our friends. We all grew up together, well we visited over the summer. I would like to think the beauty of the Catskills inspired him.
They do a great job with the park and maintaining it. That is very cool. I bet his home in the Catskills was gorgeous. The Catskills is such a beautiful area, so I am sure it inspired him.
It was an A-Frame. Well-kept on a lake. Thank you! Yes, I think he did a great job starting the transition.
Spring gardens are wonderful, aren’t they? I love the tulips. Our most memorable pond sailing experience was in the Luxembourg Gardens in Paris. Wishing you happy holidays xx
They truly are! The Luxembourg Gardens are beautiful, perfect place for a pond sailing experience. Thank you!
beautifull picture 👍
Thank you!
Beautiful photos! It looks like you picked a day with perfect weather.
Thank you! Such a perfect spring day.
I very much enjoyed your beautifully captured photos from Central Park, dear Lyssy. It is quite obvious that the park has many photogenic corners, especially in springtime, when it transforms into an urban oasis filled with blooming cherry blossoms and colourful tulips, which makes it a perfect place for a wonderful family photoshoot. Thanks for sharing, and have a good day 🙂 Aiva xx
Thank you, so glad to hear that 🙂 It’s hard to take a bad picture in Central Park. It really shows off in the spring.
Spring in NYC is gorgeous, in full bloom! Enjoy Italy, and I look forward to hearing about it when you return 😊
I always go back and forth on if spring or fall is my favorite in the park. Thank you!
The flowerbeds are very colourful, but personally I tend to prefer the parts of the park that have been left in their natural state. Have a great trip to Europe.
It is nice to see the natural beauty of the park too. Thank you!
Beautiful spring captures. Hard to believe Violet is already walking! She’s grown so much!
Beautiful photos, and family too!!! I hope that you have a wonderful vacation in Italy!!!
Central Park is absolutely beautiful in spring, look at all those tulips 🙂 But WAY more important, how did Violet get SO BIG!? Have the best time in Italy.
You chose a perfect day for the photoshoot in Central Park Lyssy. It all looks so beautiful and Violet is growing fast!
It’s so colorful! Great photos, thanks for bringing me along on your tour. Also, look at little miss Violet, how is she already walking?! Have fun in Italy!
Central Park is awesome, and your photos of it are beautiful! They bring back sweet memories of my New York years!
I was going to describe the Model Boat Pond as pristine but frankly, it works for the entire park based on your photos. Violet is a lucky girl to have this venue as her backyard. And the Davis Center looks like a welcome addition. I was afraid you were going to say it included a “public” pool (as in “swimming”). Glad to see it’s more about “reflecting” 🙂
Amazing photos! All of your seasonal photos from Central Park are so beautiful, and I can’t decide which season there would be my favourite! Maybe it is just a fantastic place to be regardless of the time of year! Enjoy Italy!
Lovely views, all the different tulips are an absolute joy.
Beautiful captures!
What a beautiful place to escape to especially on such a gorgeous spring day. Your photos are extraordinary captures. What a great place for little Violet to enjoy nature at its best. Hope you’re having or had a wonderful time in Italy. I
As always I love your walkabouts….
Lovely pictures! Central Park should be listed as a National Treasure. Thank you
