Hey friends! I hope you all had a wonderful Easter weekend! I was so excited to go back to Michigan and see my family. I was really looking forward to a nice, relaxing weekend away from the city after my busy season. Jon and I flew home Thursday night and got in at about 8:30ish.
I took Friday off from work, so it was nice to sleep in and enjoy my coffee! We went and toured two venues for our wedding with my parents. My mom had found both of them and wanted us to see them before they got booked by someone else. We’re so thankful for all the work she has put into wedding planning! It was a really hard choice because they both had their strengths and weaknesses, but we did ultimately decide on one of them. The venue has tall ceilings, a beautiful golf course, and lots of room to dance!
We all worked up an appetite with all the wedding planning. We went to Shiro with my parents and Kris to celebrate the engagement. This was my parents first real sushi experience and they really liked it! We started with the calamari and Gyoza. We all couldn’t stop talking about how delicious the calamari was! It was different than any other I’ve tried because it had a sweet chili type sauce. We all would go back to Shiro just for the calamari!Jon and I shared the Rainbow roll, Super Dragon, Wonder Woman, and Shakey Shakey Boom Boom. They were all so good! Our favorite is still the Shakey Shakey Boom Boom! My mom and Kris both got that roll as well. A year ago, Jon and I went to Shiro, and you can read about more rolls here.
We were all so stuffed after dinner and had a major food coma!On Saturday we met with the DJ/Videographer, and the photographer. Those were the first items we could check off our list as a definite yes. We were still pretty undecided about the venues.
My dad grilled us this delicious dinner. I really miss his Sunday night cooking and grilling.
We all went to my favorite ice cream place in Michigan, Ritter’s, and I got a small heath flurry.
On Sunday we got up early for the annual Easter egg hunt! This year was Jon’s first 🙂
We went to service at the church we are going to get married at and it was the perfect spring day!
For lunch (because we had an early flight) we had ham, salad, twice baked potatoes, green beans, and rolls.
Here’s three generations 🙂
I had such a great weekend at home with my family, it was tough going back to work yesterday, but now it’s back to reality!
