Hi friends, welcome back! Every year, Jon and I always go to Macy’s on 34th Street to view the window displays and pick out a new ornament at the Holiday Lane shop. This years windows display “Tip Toe”, an adorable and shy reindeer too afraid to fly and join Santa’s sleigh team. Her friends enlist the North Pole elves to build her a flying machine, but it broke down during her flight test. As the sleigh and Tip Toe plummeted to the ground, she realized she only had to believe in herself and then she could fly. Once she found the courage to believe in herself, she flew even higher and was never afraid to fly again. You can watch a short video of Tip Toe here for more cuteness.
I think these windows and Tip Toe are so adorable, and I love the theme of believing in yourself and the magic of Christmas!
The other windows feature some fun kid toys and a T-Rex breaking out of the window.
At the front of the Macys, Christmas music was blasting from the Salvation Army stand and I thought to myself, it doesn’t get much better than Christmas in NYC!
I walked through the decked-out Macys and headed up to the Holiday Lane on the top floor. I always love seeing the different themed Christmas trees and the massive ornament collection. (Jon and I went back yesterday and wow it was packed but all the ornaments were 70% off at least!)
You can also write your letter to Santa here.
While I absolutely loved the exterior and window displays at Macy’s, I thought Holiday Lane was a little underwhelming compared to 2019 when they had a ski lift and massive Letters to Santa mailbox, but I still enjoyed walking through and picking out some ornaments. I hope you enjoyed this little bit of holiday magic from the famous Macy’s on 34th Street! I believe it’s a must visit place if you’re coming to NYC for the holidays, plus you can do some holiday shopping. Next stop, Bryant Park!
Wow
It’s quite the sight!
We visited Macy’s in May and my impression then was they would do Christmas well. I was not wrong. Always good to put shoppers in the holiday spirit. The kiddies must love this place and perhaps the parents with only a little coin, not so much. Thanks for sharing Lyssy. Allan
Lots of holiday spirit inside but yesterday all I could hear was kids crying and screaming and we weren’t even on the Santaland level 😅
Ahhh, the sounds of Christmas. I’m hot, I’m cold, Mommy, Johnny won’t stop hitting me, I gotta go pee, I did go pee. All history to us and we would not change a thing. 😊
That gives me some hope haha maybe I’ll just take our future kids to less chaotic places until they’re older. I find it crazy how parents are pushing and fighting to get their giant strollers through the busiest places in nyc 🤷🏻♀️
Fab display! Saks usually pretty good too.
I do love Saks too – those windows will be making an appearance this week 🥳🎄
Goody
I am really enjoying all your Christmasy posts from NYC. New York is amazing any day of the year, but quite special during the holiday season. I have never been in the city for Christmas. Perhaps one day.
I’m so glad you’re enjoying them!! It’s such a magical time of year and I’m lucky I can go to the top sites when it’s not so crowded!! I hope you make it here for Christmas one day!
So much Christmas! I love it. I am now going to have to watch the little video.
So much Christmas!! The video is very short and cute ⛄️🎄❄️
Looking very festive indeed!! 🙂
Those wi Dow displays are so impressive and really get you into the festive spirit don’t they!
They sure do!! Glad you enjoyed and thanks for reading ☺️
Thanks for the great Macy’s tour! I’m glad department stores have maintained the tradition of Christmas windows. NYC is a special place to be for the holidays.
Glad you enjoyed! The department stores really impressed me with their window displays this year! It is such a special place for the holidays, I’m a little sad to have to leave to see our families 😂
With the photos of Holiday Lane all I could think was, “who decorated the trees and stocked the shelves? And did they do so willingly or was it with threat of losing their job?” Heh.
Okay, so the little movie was better than expected. Reminded me of the original “Rudolph” on TV. Nice sales plug in the last few seconds too. I’ll bet they sell a ton of those “Tip Toe” stuffed animals 🙂
The trees were quite lack luster, budget must’ve gone to the windows and first floor 😂 it’s also kind of funny because you buy ornaments off the trees so the closer to Christmas the worse the trees look. Tip Toe does remind me of Rudolph even if she’s a ploy to make millions 😂
New York really knows how to do Christmas!! 🙂
They sure do! Especially this year 🙂
