Shine Bright at Hudson Yards 2021

Hi friends, welcome back! I have a glitzy Christmas post for you today. When I strolled the High Line and ended at Hudson Yards, I went inside the mall and saw them decorating for Christmas. I noticed lights strung over every railing and escalator, and hot air balloons and Christmas trees hanging from the ceiling. The lights weren’t turned on at that point, but I couldn’t wait to come back and see how beautiful it would look with all the lights twinkling!

Outside the mall stands The Vessel strung in lights and surrounded by lit trees and hot air balloons. The Vessel contains over 154 flights of stairs, 80 landings, and just under 2,500 steps.

From outside you can see how bright and decked out the inside of the mall is. The theme is “Shine Bright” at Hudson Yards and the decorations are sponsored by Wells Fargo.

I walked in and classic Christmas music played while over two million lights twinkled. What a dazzling sight!!

I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything so lit before, I LOVED it!

I went up the escalator to the second floor to see the impressive 32 feet tall hot air balloon. The lights change color and it’s absolutely beautiful!

This mall has a lot of ritzy stores so this décor seemed pretty fitting.

Hope you enjoyed this dazzling tour of Hudson Yards! I’d highly recommend visiting and seeing the lights for yourself, it’s so mesmerizing and beautiful. I could’ve watched the hot air balloon change colors all day. This is one of my new favorite Christmas decor spots in the city, and I’d definitely add it to the top of your NYC Christmas List!

    1. I hope you can see it in person one day, it’s spectacular ❄️⛄️🎅🏻🎄so glad you liked it!

    1. Yesssss a glass of champagne would go perfect viewing the lights! Bubbly and twinkly are the perfect combo ✨🥂

  1. Lots of decoration, it really feels like the holiday season. Strangely enough there is also a hot air balloon in the Paris decorations (coming soon).

    1. So much holiday cheer in the city! I can’t wait to see the hot air balloons you saw in Paris 🙂

    1. Haha that got a chuckle! Maybe next year I’ll have to wrap each pole on the bannister in a strand of lights 🙂

  2. Looks like they wrapped the building in precious gems – stunning light display! But I have to ask about the “Vessel”, Lyssy. Am I missing something or is it simply a structure with no other purpose than to get your steps/exercise?

    1. Very extravagant and oh so pretty! The Vessel is quite controversial. It’s supposed to be immersive art, but there have been quite a few suicides so they’ve had to close it and people want it closed forever. It’s definitely interesting to look at, but nobody really gets it haha

  3. Your intro of a ‘glitzy Christmas post’ wasn’t wrong – the decorations are beautiful! Last time I visited NYC and walked the High Line, the Vessel was under construction so I’ll definitely be visiting it again on my return next year 🙂

    1. It’s so beautiful, I think it makes it into my top three Christmas decorations this year 🙂 The Vessel is a bit controversial. You used to be able to walk to all levels, but there have been multiple suicides, so they keep opening and reopening and talk of closing.

      1. Oh god that’s absolutely awful! We have the same here at the galleries in St Paul’s cathedral and they ended up just closing everything but the ground floor!
