What’s Up: September 2020

Hi friends, Happy Monday! Hard to believe that tomorrow is September already… seems like just yesterday I was packing up some supplies at work thinking I’d be working from home a few weeks tops. Boy was my estimation a little off – it’s been almost six months already!! Anyways, August was a better month for me, I escaped NYC for a long weekend in Lake Placid filled with lots of fresh air and hiking. I also celebrated my 27thBirthday up there and had the best day! When I returned to the city, it was back to reality and my tax busy season was in full swing. I am still working remotely and loving it! It’s so nice being able to log off and not have to commute home. I have been taking full advantage of the extra time and take a 20-30 minute yoga class every day unwind after work. I miss travelling and going out to eat, but I definitely am embracing all this extra time at home.

On to my post 🙂 I’ve been linking up with my first and favorite blogger I ever read, Shay Shull, for my What’s Up posts. Each month I’m answering the following questions:

What I’m eating: a few weeks ago, Jon and I had a mini picnic with pizza from Neapolitan Express and ate them overlooking the Hudson River and Statue of Liberty. It was such a fun outing and perfect change of scenery.

Sushi has been our go-to take out lately 🙂

I also discovered these pretzels and I’m obsessed! I ordered them from Target when I was hungrily online shopping, and they were a delicious impulse buy. The pretzels are perfectly seasoned and remind me of Gardetto’s pretzels. Fair warning – they are addicting!!

What I’m reminiscing about: three years ago I visited Jon for the first time in NYC! We had so much fun exploring the city and eating dinner at Catch. It was my second time ever to NYC and I was mesmerized by the city, but a little afraid of the subway ha!

What I’m loving: our Peloton bike! Jon and I ordered the bike about two months ago, and it finally arrived last week. I’ve ridden it three times so far, and it’s so fun! I usually pick the 30-minute classes, and by the end, I’m exhausted. The workouts are so effective and fun, I’m hooked!

What I’m dreading: I have 6 weeks left of busy season. I will say, it’s a lot easier now that I am working remotely. I used to not see Jon much during busy season, but now we are together 24/7. Also, not having to commute gives me an extra hour of sleep every day 🙂

What I’m Up to: yoga, reading, and riding my bike

What I’m working on: planning an East Coast road trip for after my busy season! I am thinking of going to Maine and New Hampshire to see the fall foliage and be in the countryside. Last year we had the best time in Vermont, so I am very excited to plan another trip for us.

What I’m excited about: putting out my Halloween decorations! I love to decorate for the holidays and I’ve got some festive new things to put up this fall. I’ll share some pictures, but you can check out last years decorations here for a sneak peek.

What I’m watching/reading: I just finished reading American Royals by Katharine McGee and I loved it! The book was a light, easy read and I would compare it to Crazy, Rich, Asians. The plot was interesting and entertaining, and the book was fun to read! It was the first light book I’ve read in a while. I just started reading The Wife Between Us, so I’ll let you know how I like it next month 🙂 I also read Where The Crawdad Sings and I loved that too! It was a little slow at the start, but then I was hooked! I saw they are going to be making it into a movie, so I’m very excited about that!

As far as shows, Jon and I have been watching shows about Ancient Egypt on Disney+, this is super random for us, but it keeps our brain engaged and learning. I really wish there was an infinite amount of Schitt’s Creek I could watch!!

What I’m listening to: whatever songs are on my Peloton instructor’s playlist. I took a Britney Spears themed ride this weekend and I was just jamming along, it was so fun!

What I’m doing this weekend: Crazy that this weekend is already Labor Day Weekend! Jon and I sadly have no fun trips planned 🙁 I think we will spend the day on Governor’s Island

What I’m looking forward to next month: finishing my tax busy season and embarking on an East Coast road trip to see some fall foliage! Jon and I booked a trip to California/Lake Tahoe in back in April, but we aren’t super comfortable flying so I’ll plan a f un trip for us instead.

Hope you all have a great week!
