Hi friends, welcome back! Not a whole lot is new in my life since the last What’s Up post, but things are starting to look up! NYC is starting Phase II of reopening today which allows outdoor dining, salons, and retail to open up. New York has made so much progress since this all started, so I’m cautiously optimistic that people will continue to follow the rules and the state can continue reopening. Jon and I have no idea when we are heading back to the office, but I’m soaking up all this time together.

On to my post 🙂 I’ve been linking up with my first and favorite blogger I ever read, Shay Shull, for my What’s Up posts. Each month I’m answering the following questions:

What I’m eating: did you catch Jon’s One Skillet Eggs and Hash Brown Recipe? That’s what we’ve been having lately. I am really craving a giant fruit salad these days, especially a juicy piece of watermelon! We haven’t been to a grocery store since March, but I am feeling more comfortable with the idea of going and picking out some fruit.

What I’m reminiscing about: Last Fourth of July Jon and I were in Michigan and I “Said Yes to the Dress”, I can’t believe it’s already been a year! This will only be my second year not being at my cottage for the Fourth of July, but hopefully we will have a great view of the fireworks in NYC from our apartment.

What I’m loving: I’ve started jogging through Battery Park once a week and it makes me so happy! I love being outside first thing in the morning when it’s quiet, cool, and the air is crisp. I only run a few miles, but it feels so good to be able to move after being cooped up in our apartment. I’m also trying to take advantage of these incredible running views, it’s surreal to me that I can run past the Statue of Liberty anytime I want!

What I’m dreading: tax season is right around the corner…
What I’m Up to: lots of reading and yoga! My new years resolutions for the past few years has consistently been to read more and practice yoga daily, and now I am finally making time for it! It’s the perfect way to get some “me” time during this quarantine.

What I’m working on: not too much except for making the apartment more homey. We are going to stay in our place another year, so we’re working on organizing, tidying, and making it look like the pretty places we see on Instagram 🙂

What I’m excited about: NYC is starting to reopen! I’m still not totally comfortable with taking the subway, but I feel optimistic about the reopening and being able to dine outside and have shops reopen.
What I’m watching/reading: SO MUCH!! I just finished reading The Great Alone and WOW! That was one of the best books I’ve read in a long time and I can’t recommend it enough!! It was incredibly deep and heart wrenching, so don’t expect some chick lit when you begin reading. I started reading “Everything I Never Told You” by Celeste Ng, the author of “Little Fires Everywhere”, and I’ve got three new books to add to the line-up on their way to my apartment. It’s been years since I’ve read this much for pleasure and I want to keep this habit post-quarantine. Moving onto shows, we’ve been binge watching to the MAX! My favorite show we’ve watched so far is Schitt’s Creek! This show is light hearted, funny, and was the perfect distraction on our rescheduled wedding day. I am so sad there is only one more season left in the series, I’m not ready to say goodbye to the Rose family! If you have a Netflix account be sure to check it out! We’ve also been watching Dead to Me and Better Call Saul.

What I’m listening to: nothing very exciting, BUT Hamilton is coming to Disney+ soon so I will probably be listening to those songs again. They truly never get old!
What I’m doing this weekend: maybe we will adventurous and go out for dinner somewhere in the neighborhood 🙂 I’d also love to have a picnic in Battery Park with some pizza and wine (if that’s legal?).

What I’m looking forward to next month: I’m turning 27! We are also planning to go to Michigan for a golf outing and family wedding, so hopefully that all happens! It would be really nice for us to get out of the city and see our families. That potential trip is about two months away, so hopefully things are better by then.

Hope you all have a great week, thanks for stopping by!
Nice
I loved that Kristin Hannah book as well.
You consistently have some of the best food photos on WordPress and I just want to say that I appreciate it lol
Thank you! Hopefully I’ll be able to go out soon and post more pictures 🙂
Nice, i also liked the kristin Hannah book
I think I’ve read (and enjoyed) just about every book in that pile! I did see that Disney+ was airing Hamilton and I’m looking forward to watching it.
You have good taste in books 😃
I’m really looking forward to seeing Hamilton on Disney+. We were supposed to see it in Toronto at the beginning of May but clearly that didn’t happen. I hope your Michigan trip is able to happen. Enjoy having a little more freedom. NYC was locked down tight and I can’t imagine how freeing it feels to be able to move around again. (My husband’s cousins live just north of the city so we’ve been connecting with them and hearing about their experiences.)
Also, that crow pose is incredible and a very good party trick!
Thank you!!
Oh wow! Hopefully after Broadway comes back you will be able to see Hamilton in person, it was incredible!! Thank you! It is exciting that things are opening up again, I’m looking forward to eating out again 🙂 what a crazy time in life!!
I enjoyed reading this. Thanks for a great post
Thank you!
