It’s so weird to think that I’m visiting now when I come back home, but I was so excited to go back home to Michigan with Jon and celebrate the Fourth of July. I’ve been away for five weeks so far, the time has really flown by!
We got up early and lifted before getting ready to go to the airport. It was a little rainy, but we walked to Penn Station to take the train to New Jersey. The train goes right from Penn Station to Newark Airport and it takes about 30 minutes, but only costs $13 each way, so it’s a lot more affordable than a taxi or uber.
This is our first time travelling together, and it was so nice to have him with me. We got seats right next to each other. Luckily we had an easy flight and no crazy delays, which is a little rare.
You can see the NYC skyline from the Newark airport runway!
I blogged on the plane while Jon watched the office. The snack was a Stropal Waffle which I haven’t had since I was in Greece. They’re so good so I was so excited.
We got off the plane and Jon stood in the sun to get some color while I was in the shade, I thought it was funny.
My great uber driver (thanks dad!) picked us up and we went to Costco to grab a few things. We got so many free samples, this one is an Acai Berry Frozen Yogurt, there was also a protein bar and veggie burger sample.
We went to downtown Plymouth for dinner and ate at Barrio. That’s one of my favorite Mexican restaurants. The ingredients are so fresh and everything is always amazing.
We started off with some STRONG margaritas and some chips and salsa, guac, and queso (I swear this is almost too good!!)
For my entree I got the mahi mahi tacos (shocker!)
Jon got the steak enchiladas.
We sat outside in the little downtown and listened to an orchestra play. They have a concert in the park on Thursdays which is nice in the summer.
The next day I had my last lift at Lifetime Fitness, you can read about it here.
We went to the mall afterwards so that Jon could pick out his birthday present. We were supposed to go last weekend, but I got stuck with the stomach bug. He picked out some tanks and a long sleeve. We love lulu!
We packed up the car and headed for the lake! I got pretty hungry so we stopped at Meijer along the way and picked up yogurt and rice cakes for me, and halo top ice cream for Jon.
I was so happy when we finally got to the lake, the drive took about an hour and a half which isn’t bad. Our cottage is on a peninsula so this is the view behind from the driveway.
My dad made some fajitas for dinner and then we headed on a pontoon ride with my parents.
Mom and dad glad to have you home
