Hi friends, happy October! October is one of my favorite months, so I thought it was fitting to kick it off with my fall bucket list. Our fall is off to a bit of a slow start with the Nor’easter keeping us homebound so I’m keeping my list short and sweet. I do miss being able to see all the Halloween decor around NYC easily, but I’m excited for our first fall in the suburbs. It won’t be long before we’re surrounded by all the beautiful fall colors. My house is decorated, tickets to the Great Jack O Lantern Blaze have been purchased, and cider mills have been scoped out. I’m ready for you October! (Pictures below are from 2025)

Fall Bucket List:
- Decorate the home and porch for Halloween
- Take Violet Trick or Treating
- Go apple picking
- See the Great Jack O’ Lantern Blaze
- Carve a pumpkin
- Watch some Halloween movies (we love Hocus Pocus & Hubie Halloween)
- Take the train in to see some of the townhomes in NYC decked out for Halloween
- Photograph some fall foliage
- Spend the morning in Sleepy Hallow
- Stock up on the Trader Joe’s fall goodies (the pumpkin waffles & leaf shaped tortilla chips are my favs)
- Listen to some spooky tunes
- Enjoy some cider donuts
- Put together a spooky charcuterie board
- Bake Butternut Bakery’s Brown Butter & Maple Chewy Pumpkin Cookies
What are you looking forward to this October?
Happy October Lyssy!!
Happy October to you too!!
That sounds like such a fun fall bucket list. I’m looking forward to both boys’ Parents Weekends at their respective colleges.
That sounds like a blast!
This is will be a very fun year for Violet. What is her costume?
She loves seeing pumpkins everywhere. I think she’s going to be a bunny like her favorite stuffed animal.
So different this year Lyssy, but I think you will all still find the excitement and enjoy a more relaxed setting. Looking forward to your posts. Happy Friday. Allan
I think so too and it’ll be easier to get to all the fall fun now that we don’t have to deal with NYC traffic. Hope you are having a great vacation!
I love how you go to town for Halloween, and I’m sure Violet does too. I’m looking forward to cooler temperatures, some household repairs and a flying visit to UK.
My mom always went to town so I must’ve inherited it! Violet loves all the pumpkins. Cooler temperatures are very welcome. A visit to the UK sounds fun and hopefully the repairmen come when they say they will.
Amen to that!
You’re so good at celebrating the seasons 🙂 A great fall bucket list!
Thank you 🙂 I have fun with it!
Sounds fun Lyssy. I like autumn too but don’t look forward to sweeping up all the leaves in our garden – a seemingly never ending task.
Oh yes I can imagine! We only have one little tree in our backyard, but we aren’t responsible for lawn care.
Ooh, I don’t know if I’ve had a cider doughnut before, but it does sounds like a fall food! I’m looking forward to (hopefully) cooler weather as October progresses– here in LA, it hit over 100F today!!!
I saw all those heat waves on the West Coast!! Hope it cools down quickly for you guys. Cider doughnuts are delicious, especially when you get one that’s just been made.
We’re going to Stowe, Vermont to look at the pretty colors. 🍂
That’s going to be so beautiful!
We’re back from Stowe, we went yesterday right after I left that comment. It was very beautiful. Highly recommend – full fall foliage! 😁
Have a great Autumn 🍁 Blessings to Violet
Thank you 🙂 Hope you have a great autumn too.
With the good weather continuing, it’s hard to accept that fall is here, yet the trees are tired and are thinking of taking a rest. Enjoy working through your list!
I love Jon’s shirt 🤣
Happy fall!
October is one of my favourite months as well. All the best with your fall bucket list! Cider donuts sound delicious!
That sounds like an amazing fall bucket list! I can’t believe I haven’t made mine yet, and will definitely do it today! What I’d love to include in mine is to try cider donuts. I hear so much about them but I’ve never had them (I think it is a very US thing), so maybe I’ll try making them! Thanks for the inspiration!
Cute cute cute! I do not decorate for halloween but I do have some fall decor that I enjoy. I do need to remember to switch out one thing on my front porch! I still have my summer wooden sign out. I made a bucket list, but we shall see how busy we get.
