Hi friends, welcome back! It’s time for my annual fall bucket list to celebrate the first day of fall. My fall starts after Labor Day so I’ve already started on my list. It’s predicted to be a chilly fall so I’m extra excited, I’m just not cut out for these hot summers! My apartment is decorated, pumpkin cookies have been baked, pumpkin beer has been consumed, football has been watched, and now I’m just waiting for the leaves to change and townhomes to be decorated. Happy Fall everyone! (Pictures are from 2024)

Fall Bucket List:
- Go apple picking
- Visit the Great Jack O Lantern Blaze (2024)
- See the NYC Halloween Decorations
- Upper East Side (2024 decorations), Upper West Side (2023 decorations), West Village (2023 decorations), Chelsea Market (2023 decorations)
- Bake a pumpkin treat
- These brown butter pumpkin cookies from butternut bakery with some added chocolate chips are my favorite!
- Watch some Halloween movies
- Take in the fall foliage
- Carve a pumpkin
- Drink a fall flavored coffee
- Make some chili
- Decorate the apartment
- Visit Governors Island for Pumpkin Point
- Go on a hayride
- Drink a pumpkin beer (highly recommend Pumpking by Sixpoint Brewery)
- Stock up on Trader Joe’s fall goodies
- Eat some Halloween candy
- Read a fall themed book
- Watch all the football
- Enjoy some apple cider & donuts
- Light a fall scented candle
- Navigate a corn maze
That’s all the fall fun I can think of! What are you looking forward to this fall season? (Just an FYI most of my fall posts will be uploaded towards the end of October)
Love your list! I can’t wait to go hiking in cooler weather and make more fall treats 😍
Cooler weather makes all the difference on hikes! Can’t beat the fall treats 🙂
I love how you decorate your apartment to get in the spirit of fall. Of course, it’ll be lovely seeing everything on your list through Violet’s eyes.
Thank you! Violet loves to try to touch those pumpkins when she thinks I’m not looking. It will be fun seeing all the holiday excitement through her eyes.
Absolutely!
Love it! So far, I’ve decorated the house, seen some foliage, and had a fall flavored coffee (okay, maybe more than one haha…). I’m definitely looking forward to more leaves and pulling out the cozy fall clothes and blankets.
You’re off to a good start! Can’t beat curling up with some coffee and a bunch of blankets on a crisp fall morning.
What a perfect fall list! I haven’t yet decorated but I nearly did this past weekend… so I’m betting by the end of the week I’ll have it done.
It did feel like fall this past weekend! Looking forward to seeing your decorations.
A great list for the three of you to work your way around Lyssy. Happy Monday. Allan
It’ll be fun taking her to Central Park to see some colors. I haven’t been since our maternity pictures. Hard to get out and about like I used to.
Your Spartans are off to a good start this year. Yes, the loss to 4-0 USC on Saturday, but at least you made them work for it!
I have low expectations so any win is a bonus ha! Your team had a tough schedule to start the year. I really have high hopes for the Lions.
What a fun list. I came here through Joanne at Slices of Life. Thanks for the inspiration for my list.
Thank for stopping by! Happy Fall 🙂
This is such a wonderful fall bucket list! I always make one too, as it provides a structured way to plan activities, embrace the season’s unique offerings, create lasting memories, and foster a sense of cosy anticipation and gratitude for the autumn period. It is quite obvious that New York City features truly amazing fall decorations, with homes becoming beautifully adorned with pumpkins, gourds, and Halloween-themed displays. I wish we had something similar in Ireland, but you rarely see decorations on such an impressive scale. Thanks for sharing, and have a good day 🙂 Aiva xx
I always like to have a list to cross things off and keep me focused. I think Fall is when NYC really shines, there’s so many fun things to do and see. It’s like a warm up to all the Christmas festivities but with better weather.
A great list Lyssy, strangely the fall colours haven’t started here yet, but I’ll enjoy them when they come. I make a delicious spicy pumpkin soup every fall, but I’ll look at your cookie recipe too. Maggie
It would be nice if the fall colors lasted a little longer. A spicy pumpkin soup sounds delicious!
Happy first day of fall! It’s still blazing here in LA, but I do hope that the weather starts to cool soon. Likewise, I’m tired of the exceptionally-hot summer we had this year. I haven’t baked sweets in a minute, so I’d like to get back into it, particularly to make pumpkin spice scones! I also haven’t been using my electric kettle all summer for (hot) tea and drinks, so I hope to dust it off and use it again! Have a wonderful autumn ahead, Lyssy 🙂
I hope the cooler weather comes soon! It’s much more enjoyable to bake and drink hot drinks when it’s not blazing hot. Hope you have a great fall!
I’m in SC and it still feels pretty summery here, but I’m pulling out fall decor this week anyway. We’re sometimes sill in the lake late October so I’m going to embrace the date on the calendar and ring in fall. You have some fun things on your list. We lived outside NYC twice, and I grew up in South Jersey so have spent a lot of time in the city, but I don’t think I’ve ever been there around Halloween. Enjoy all your fall happenings!
Oh wow! I always wish the weather would cooperate more with the calendar! NYC is really fun around Halloween, I think it’s one of the best times to be in the city. Happy decorating!
Aww such a great list. I’m flying back to NYC with work on 13th October and staying back down in Lower Manhattan – I sadly have no free days this trip but am going to try and go out in the evenings for little walks to see if I can see any of the Fall decorations 🙂
Hope you get to stay at that nice hotel again! I bet there will be some decorations up by then. Definitely the giant pumpkin arch on the Seaport pier with the bridge in the background. I bet quite a few townhomes will be decorated too.
Staying the The Beekman this time, looks lovely too 😊 Ahhh I will definitely head down to the pier then at least…thanks Lyssy!
Your fall list sounds perfect. I got some inspiration for my own. Thanks!
Happy to help 🙂 Happy fall!
You are always so well organised, what a fun list!
Making lists is my specialty!
The fall is my favourite time of the year. I’m not cut out for these hot and humid summers either. Best of luck with your fall bucket list. It would be fun to share these experiences with your little one, maybe not watching some Halloween movies though!
It will be fun seeing the holidays through her eyes. I got her some cute Halloween pajamas but she had a growth spurt and they barely fit now. Good thing Halloween is in a month!
Sounds like a great plan. I feel like I let fall pass us by last year, so we are starting on the right foot this year with a festival last week and apple picking this week. Also looking forward to a couple fall getaways!

Hope you have a great fall! The fall gets pretty busy so it’s easy to let if pass by, but it sounds like you’re off to a great start!
There are some great farms in Ulster and Dutchess County for apple picking and other Fall activities. The big ones that get a lot of city people are Barton Farms in Dutchess
https://www.bartonorchards.com
and Minard’s in Ulster County https://www.minardsfamilyfarms.com.
Thank you! We haven’t been to those yet. My friend always picks the orchards and Harvest Moon is the only one I remember the name of. Gets pretty busy with city people too.
Besides the orchards with apples they have things for adults and kids. The corn mazes, bands that play on the weekend (Barton) hay rides, pumpkin patches, animals to see etc. makes it a great few hour experience.
That sounds wonderful!
Happy Autumn 🍁
Happy Autumn to you too!
I’m impressed that you even have time to make the list Lissy!!! – Looking forward as always to your decorations .
Thank you! It is hard work keeping my pumpkins safe from Violet, she’s a curious gal!
Yay, love the bucket list! As always I feel like no one does fall like you guys in the US, and I’m a bit jealous! I have to start working on my own bucket list too and yours will certainly help in inspiring me! What fall book are you planning to read?
You’ll have to come for Halloween one year! I am reading The Pumpkin Spice Cafe by Laurie Gilmore. It is a pretty easy read!
The photos are very lovely. Hope you can accomplish most to all of your fall bucket list. This list really inspired me to do at least a few of them.
This is a great list of activities!
