Hi friends, welcome back! Spooky season sure is flying by so I made sure to make the trek uptown to check out the Upper East Side townhome decorations. I had to be a little more strategic and pare down my route this year, but I still managed to see a lot of fun decorations. I started at 86th Street and made my way down to 59th Street zigzagging my way across the avenues on a perfect fall day. Hope you enjoy this tour! If you want a full list be sure to check out my 2023 Upper East Side Halloween Tour post.

Which decorations caught your eye?
So much fun! I am coming with you next year. MB, GB
Will be easier to see it all next year!
Lots of fun decorations!
They always do a great job decorating!
Oh my goodness! You know what I was to see? The decorating process. What an undertaking that must be, especially the stuff that’s hung on upper floors.
I would like to see that too! I imagine they hire companies to do that. It’s even a lot of work just getting a big pumpkin in the city haha.
$25 mil caught my eye 😉 I’ll have to follow your link and take a peek inside. The skeleton scarecrow made me pause, maybe because we’re conditioned to the more innocent version from The Wizard of Oz. The several ladies in front of the windows is a great setup. But for honest-to-goodness scares, I’d go with any of the larger-than-life characters. Some of them look like they’re about to just walk out of their setups and come after you.
It’s always interesting seeing what lies behind these nice townhomes. That scarecrow is a lot creepier than the harmless one in Wizard of Oz. I don’t think I’d want to be walking around here at night in case those things came to life and scared me. Maybe I’d walk on the other side of the street haha
Wow they really go all out with the Halloween decorations. I can see why you were so determined to still get out and see them. Maggie
They really do! It’s interesting they decorate more for Halloween than Christmas.
Love the first photo with all the mums and the Upper East Died as well as the steps filled with gourds. A real autumnal Hallowe’en display. Happy Monday Lyssy. Allan
Whoever decorates Park Avenue always does a great job with all the medians. Seems a lot of people went the spooky route, but I prefer a more classic pumpkin display.
Wow, Halloween decorations in these beloved NYC nabes are scary-good – there’s nothing quite like gorgeous brownstones decked out in cobwebs, don’t you think! While I love a good costume party and can’t resist attending local parades, the best thing to do at Halloween is to simply walk down the street, eyeing seasonal aesthetics adorned on houses, shops, attractions, and beyond all of which are usually equally impressive and bone-chilling! (In the best way possible.) Thanks for sharing, and have a good day 🙂 Aiva xx
They are scary good for sure! I agree the decorations are one of my favorite parts of the holidays. It’s fun walking down their street or into restaurants and seeing all the spooky decor, it adds some extra fun. Glad you enjoyed a glimpse at some of the decor in NYC 🙂
These are amazing! Iwonder is there an element of trying to outdo the neighbours?
They always do a great job with their Halloween decorations. I bet there is an element to outdo the neighbors, especially if they have the resources to do it.
That’s what i thought!
Spooky season, indeed! Lots of lovely Halloween decorations in the Upper East Side! I’ve not been to NYC in the fall, but I just might have to check it out for these extravagant décor (and fall foliage). Thanks for sharing, Lyssy!
I think the fall is the best time in NYC with all the fall colors and fun Halloween decorations and activities. The only downside is the weather doesn’t always cooperate.
So exciting. I love the way families use their imagination to come up with such tasteful Halloween displays. Hope everything’s going well Lyssy. Marion
It is fun to see how creative people get with their decorations and how many people participate. Thank you, all is well over here, busy getting things ready 🙂
I love how some people go all out for Halloween! It would be so fun to go trick or treating in one of these neighbourhoods.
It is really fun for everyone when people go all out! On Halloween they close a lot of the streets here so the kids can trick or treat. I’m sure it’s madness, but would be so fun.
There’s real competition and lots of ideas.
I agree! I appreciate all the creativity and commitment.
Oooo NYC takes its decorations very seriously. These displays must cost an absolute fortune, but they’re so much fun – I’d love to see them in person 🙂
Waouh a lot of amazing decorations
I love these elegant Halloween decorations!!!
They went all out. I’m thinking some of those had professionals to do all that. In NYC where could you store all those decorations? I know some of those townhouses are occupied by one family.
Walking through the streets of the Upper East Side during Halloween is like stepping into a real-life fairytale. The elaborate decorations, spooky sound effects, and festive atmosphere create a truly immersive experience.
