Hi friends, welcome back! I’m loving all the spring flowers and I noticed all the beautiful blooms popping up in Lower Manhattan. I recently posted A Stroll Around my Neighborhood, and about six weeks later it already looks so different. Last time I showed Zucotti Park there were still Christmas lights up on the trees, but now it’s filled with colorful tulips.
I planned to see the tulips at Bowling Green Park, but they hadn’t bloomed yet, so I continued south to Battery Park. This was sadly a mistake and I think I’m giving up on it for the next six months. There’s so much construction that it’s not fun to walk through anymore and the shore is boarded up so you can’t see the Statue of Liberty. Also at the two entrances to the park there are so many scalpers trying to sell Statue of Liberty tickets for various tour companies. What was even crazier was the line for the official Statue of Liberty ferry. There must’ve been at least 300 people in line! So unless you’re visiting Lady Liberty, I’d avoid Battery Park for the forseeable future. (Note: If you’re visiting the Statue of Liberty, be mindful of where you buy your tickets. Per the NPS website: “Statue City Cruises is the ONLY ferry service authorized by the National Park Service for ticket sales and transportation to Liberty and Ellis Islands. Numerous third-party vendors sell tickets at higher prices or for boats that do not land at the islands.”)
After the chaos of Battery Park, I enjoyed a peaceful stroll along the Hudson River.
Pumphouse Park at Brookfield Place is my favorite spot in the spring and summer. I was a little early for the tulips, but I just love all the colors.
This was a few days later once they’d opened. In the summer this park will be filled with hydrangeas.
More flowers along the Hudson River and Rockefeller Park. Soon the lawn will be covered with picnic blankets.
Hope you enjoyed the spring blooms around Lower Manhattan!
It is hard to beat a filed of tulips for a profusion of colour Lyssy. Too bad a bout Battery Park. Hopefully all the construction will be done soon and it will be worth it. Meanwhile enjoy the beautiful colours on this Earth Day. Allan
I agree, tulips are the perfect flower to bring some joy after winter. I have a feeling it will be just our luck and Battery Park will be open as soon as we leave the city. We had a beautiful Earth Day yesterday!
You did manage to find some lovey blooms but I’m still struck over those super long lines at Battery Park! Wow; that looks longer than most lines at the Disney parks.
That line was like nothing I’ve ever seen! I guess tourism is back and in full swing.
The tulips are amazing Lyssy, what a beautiful day you had for it too 🙂 Maggie
We’ve had some really nice spring days this year and I’ve been taking full advantage 🙂
So colourful Lyssy!
Just what the city needs after a dreary winter!
Absolutely
Even more colorful tulips to marvel at! Glad you got to see more teeming flowers in NYC. Spring is finally and truly here!
The NYC Parks department sure does a great job making the city beautiful in the springtime!
Yey for Spring and all those colourful tulips 🙂
All the tulips are a dream 🙂
So pretty! Tulips are just starting to bloom here, a bit further north 🙂
I wish tulips lasted longer, enjoy all the ones up north 🙂
It’s such a beautiful time of the year when all the spring flowers start to bloom. Your pictures look so pretty. This makes me want to visit NYC in the spring now.
Wow! Beautiful photos of colorful tulips blooming in the Big Apple. Thanks for sharing this, Lyssy!
Beautiful Lyssy, almost on the same scale as Amsterdam!
New York looks exquisite in the spring, wow!!! All of your posts are inspiring me to visit the city someday!!!
So bloomin’ pretty 🌸
My good friend “Brilliant Viewpoint” found tulips too, only in Chicago 🙂 https://brilliantviewpoint.com/
Wow, fantastic tulips and so many!
How gorgeous – as I’ve mentioned before, we’ve only managed to visit NYC in summer and winter – spring must be lovely
