Hi friends, welcome back! I figured it was time for another edition of the “View From My Window”. I last posted the inaugural window pictures back in March 2023 and I’ve been collecting pictures ever since. Jon and I re-signed our lease so we’ll be taking in all these views for at least another year. We face east and south and love all the water views, especially of the East River. Some days the east river is full of action.

We got to see the Flower Moon last May.

Occasionally there are fireworks in the East River that scare the heck out of me. They’re always a surprise and they were so loud when you are at eye level with them!! It sounded like we were under attack but then we saw all the bright colors. I just have to figure out how to get this building moved…

This building changes colors for Easter, Hannukah, Christmas, and on New Years Eve it put on a colorful show.

I would not want this guys job!

Or to be anywhere near this precarious scaffolding!

Last summer we had the crazy forest fire smoke. Jon was in Montreal at the time and it was very creepy being home alone. I felt like I was living in an end of world movie.

On 9/11 there was a beautiful double rainbow.

An unrelated rainbow.

I love seeing storms brewing from New Jersey and heading our way.

Every once in a while I’m up for the sunrise..

I love the golden hour and I’m always admiring a beautiful sunset.

This fall we had so much rain so every weekend looked like this outside

A few little snow flurries this winter.

Unlike the building construction out my kitchen window that seems to have stalled, this building addition is making quick progress. This is June to March. I hope they don’t build any higher or I won’t be able to see Governor’s Island.

Hope you enjoyed the View From My Window!
I love your views and the sky really does add to the mood of each photo so much. I remember those weird yellow/orange hazy days!
We get a lot of variety of colors out the window. Hopefully no more of those weird hazy day!
Great view, the fireworks must have been awesome to see, Maggie
So interesting watching new york from your window. Thanks.
Glad you enjoyed this 🙂
The fireworks were really cool! We can’t see the Fourth of July ones so those were a nice surprise.
I am very jealous of your view! I’m not sure how I’d get anything done with so much to see all the time. Those smoke pictures are apocalyptic.
It is easy to just stand looking out the window, there’s so much to see! It’s always weird when I am at someones house and see someone walk by, that never happens out my window haha
Oh wow, I hadn’t thought of that. Funny!
Gorgeous photos! Back when I lived in higher apartments, I enjoyed the views from my balcony (especially in France, with all of its elegant architecture)! NYC looks gorgeous all around, and I appreciate you sharing. 🙂
Paris balconies have such pretty views with all the stunning buildings! Glad you enjoyed this 🙂
Fabulous views
Thank you!
Such stunning views Lyssy and I love the varying shades of the sky.
The different colors of the sky are my favorite 🙂
I can picture you standing in front of your windows with a cup of coffee, contemplating life for moments at a time. I do the same here at ground level but all I’m thinking is, “I really need to mow the lawn”. Is the slim building between you and the river still under construction or does it just have a sort of unfinished look? Also, how often do you turn to Jon and say, “I wonder what THAT is?” as you watch something going on on a rooftop, balcony, bridge, the river, etc. Always something to talk about!
Haha it’s like you were there! I do love to just stare out the window watching the world go by. We can see rooftop parties sometimes and point it out ha. The slim building is under construction and currently tangled up in a lawsuit. I think (based on some articles) someone cut corners in the design so when it was getting constructed, it had a lean. Wonder if I’ll be out of the city by the time it’s finished.
Looks like my original comment may have gone astray. What a great vantage point to see the city Lyssy. I especially like the sunset shots. Too bad about the building in the way of the fireworks. Happy Friday. Allan
Sometimes WordPress can be glitchy! I do love a good sunset, especially now that they aren’t happening at 4:30. It seems I’ll be well out of the city before that building is finished. Happy Friday!
I love all these city skyline views, gorgeous!
Amazing view to have on any occasion even with the great smoke gathering outside (I do agree that there’s a creepy vibe to these photos). I would absolutely be glued to this view to observe storms gathering and brewing.
Nice views from your window! It’s pretty awesome that you can watch the fireworks from the comfort of your own home.
You have a great view from this height. It’s true that it’s frustrating to see a new building taking over part of the space we’re used to. When I lived in Dublin, a new building took away two months of sunshine a year, yet the rent went up.
