Hi friends, welcome back! Looking back, July felt like the quickest and longest month, and now it’s almost August! July was an extremely fun, busy month for me! I started the month on vacation with Jon in Nantucket, then two weeks later I flew out to Scottsdale for a bachelorette party, and then we’re ending the month in Michigan. I love travelling so much, but I will admit I’m exhausted! August is looking like another busy month for us, but a good kind of busy!
On to my post 🙂 I’ve been linking up with my first and favorite blogger I ever read, Shay Shull, for my What’s Up posts. Each month I’m answering the following questions:
What I’m eating: I scrolled through my last month of pictures and I’ve been eating lots of sugar!! Don’t tell my dentist ha!
What I’m reminiscing about: spending my birthday last year in Lake Placid! Jon and I had a blast hiking and exploring the beauty of upstate NY and it easily became one of our favorite places.
What I’m loving: travelling again! It seems so crazy to me that I went from not flying for over a year to visiting Lake Tahoe, Yosemite, Nantucket, and Scottsdale. The last two months sure have been a whirlwind of making up for lost time!
What I’m Up to: trying to update my wardrobe, but I don’t love shopping so it’s a process 🙂
What I’m working on: writing my Yosemite blog posts! I’m struggling because Yosemite is such a special and jaw-dropping place, so I just want to do it justice. I am also having a hard time narrowing down all the pictures I took 🙂
What I’m excited about: Fall! I’m so excited to decorate my apartment and watch some great college football. I’ve already scoped out the new Pottery Barn Halloween décor and it’s taking a lot of self control to resist putting out my decor!
What I’m watching/reading: I finished reading American Dirt and I’d highly recommend everyone read it! It’s one of those books that will stick with you forever and really makes you see things differently. I’m now reading The Things We Cannot Say and am enjoying it so far. We are watching Kim’s Convenience and Virgin River along with the Olympics now. I LOVE watching the Olympics, especially gymnastics, swimming, track, and volleyball.
My favorite blog post of the month: Fourth of July in Nantucket – Part Two – still dreaming about these houses and hydrangeas
What I’m doing this weekend: heading to Michigan for Jon’s families annual golf outing and to celebrate my birthday Monday! I haven’t played in a few years so hopefully I do ok, luckily, it’s a scramble and just for fun 🙂
What I’m looking forward to next month: my best friend’s wedding!!
Thanks for reading! What are you looking forward to in August?
That was a busy month!! And yes, it is definitely too early for Halloween decorations 😉
I suppose you’re right but after Labor Day is fair game 😜
I just bought American Dirt. Thanks for the recommendation!
Yay! Let me know what you think of it!
What a busy month, Lyssy. I remember those days. We are still not travelling much yet. Too paranoid about people’s carelessness as Wave 4 hits. That being said, just back from driving 2,900 km in 7 days to take care of an ailing parent and spend 2 hours with our kids we have not seen in 16 months. Now, just trying to catch up on yard work and catch up. Stay well and enjoy Michigan. Allan
It’s wild how fast the Delta variant is spreading, better to be safe than sorry these days. That’s a lot of driving! I’m glad you got to spend some time with family 🙂 thanks for reading Allan, stay well yourself
Thanks for letting us in on what’s happening in your world. This is a strange Olympics but still fun to watch.
It is strange, but I’m happy they finally get to compete. I can imagine having it postponed was hard on the athletes
Ahhh Kim’s Convenience 😊 isn’t it just the best? Also my mouth is watering looking at those amazing cookies!!
It’s so good! We are on season three already! The cookies didn’t last long 😂
Oh, someone else had a sugar overload in July. We had the entire wedding cake left due to a little misunderstanding. Looking forward to your Yosemite articles.
Haha I can only imagine how much cake!! We had a small cake that went fast, but we still have our topper we saved. Yosemite is coming soon 😁
It feels good to travel, I agree. Can we expect some exploring in Michigan or is it just to meet the family?
Just spending time with the family this time. My parents just spent a week in the upper peninsula and had some beautiful pictures so one day I’ll have to go up there!
At one point I had planned to go to Mackinac Island, but it was a bit too far from Toronto. Not to mention Isle Royale. Both are attractive places.
It is quite difficult to get to both. I went to Mackinac when I was a kid and remember biking around the island.
Can’t wait to read your Yosemite posts. Like you, I’m so enjoying travelling again (even though it’s just in England, I’m discovering so much), but I am sooo tired haha!
Thanks for making us travelling around the US! Also love all the food that you’re having haha
I’m looking forward to travelling abroad again and in August I’m going back to France to visit my family and show around Normandie (up north) to my fiancé. I just can’t believe either that we’re ending July already!
That sounds like an amazing trip! I’ve never been to France so I can’t wait to read about it 🙂 2021 is going by so fast!!
I know you’ve posted that first photo before, but what a great way to show off ice cream. Beautiful hydrangeas in the background. Every ice cream shop should take that approach with their advertising.
Thank you! I agree – maybe I should be an ice cream marketer 🙂 seems like a fun job!
Upstate New York was also my favorite memory from 2020. So many places to hike and enjoy. I believe in one of your other posts you mentioned the waterfall close to where your one photo was taken (my daughter & I also have photos from there) and I can’t believe we missed seeing that. And, “Kim’s Convenience” is hilariously funny at times.
Oh yes! I think it’s called Rainbow Falls, was quite a long detour to get there! I believe that was the longest hike we’ve ever done…almost 16 miles. “Kim’s Convenience” is great to wind down to at night.
