Deck The Halls – Christmas 2020

Hi friends, come on in! I have a holly, jolly home tour to share with you all. My apartment has been decorated since November 6th and I’ve been soaking up all the extra time at home with my decorations. I bought quite a few new items this year and I was so excited to put them out. 2020 has been a tough year, so Christmas decorations were just what I needed! I linked some of the items I purchased this year in case you like anything and need some holiday cheer (sadly I am not sponsored by Pottery Barn or Target, so there is no commission, I just like when people link decorations in their blogs) Here we go, it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

I’m the one in the middle, clearly I’ve always LOVED Christmas!

Starting with my favorite area to decorate! These trees are new this year and I’m obsessed! The taller ones are from Pottery Barn, and the shorter one is a candle from target. Every day at 5pm the flameless candles turn on and makes my apartment so cozy.

I found these JOY letter stocking holders form Pottery Barn last year and couldn’t resist. We also got our stockings from Pottery Barn. Maybe if Santa comes through the “O” will have a dog stocking 😉

Another new item is this Letters To Santa mailbox, how fun! It reminds me of the massive one at Macy’s Jon and I wrote our letter to Santa in last year 🙂

Every year I love putting my new ornaments on the tree and reminiscing about memories from the year. I started collecting ornaments from trips a few years ago, and this year I have new ornaments from Miami, Lake Placid, Portland, Bar Harbor, and New Hampshire. I also received a special ornament from my friend Rachel with Jon and my new wedding date.

Moving into the kitchen, I filled my vase with some peppermints to make it more festive.

A festive, but not so practical rug for the kitchen.

Any guesses on how long these Peanut M&Ms will last?

I love decorating my kitchen windowsill!

My favorite Santa my grandma picked out for me

Festive coffee cups make for the start to a great day.

I got this mug yesterday from Anthropologie, I saw other people with it and figured I needed it too!

Christmas plates are a must – and cookies that won’t last until December 24th!

I am not someone that is obsessed with decorative pillows – my couch came with plenty! – but I did get this pillow cover to match my stocking. (In case you didn’t know, I am more obsessed with Golden Retrievers than I am pizza and ice cream!) I realized that I can just switch out pillow cases for the holidays so I don’t have to worry about storing pillows all year in an NYC apartment! Major lightbulb moment ha!

After Jon’s birthday banner, the apartment seemed empty without something here, so I bought this cheery banner from target.

I love my nostalgia ornaments on this galvanized tree.

I love Christmas books! Every year my dad reads us Twas The Night Before Christmas on Christmas Eve before we go to bed. I’ll have Jon carry on that tradition one day 🙂

The Polar Express is one of my favorite Christmas movies.

I have another Christmas countdown this year – I’ve been very good at keeping it updated!

Thanks for reading, hope this post has brought a little Christmas cheer into your day!

  1. Alyssa – love the Christmas decorations! I think you need an Aussie pup instead of a Golden (no tail to knock stuff down, and a good one has a better “off switch” than a Golden! lol!)! We will have pups in the spring… check out https://bit.ly/haintblueaussies.
Of course, you may have to get new pillows.

    1. Thank you!! Haha too funny!! Your Aussies are beautiful!! I grew up with a golden so I just need one 😀

  2. The snowman candy cane rack is my favorite here. I’m trying to decide if the rack was meant for something else or you just got creative with the candy canes? Also, I have the same problem as you with the Christmas candy. I found those holiday Reese’s and I’ve got them sitting out way too early (it’s not even December!). No way they’ll make it to 12/25.

    1. We had the snowman growing up and always had candy canes on it so I don’t know any differently 😂 I had the holiday Reese’s but they were devoured before I took pictures!

  3. I love all of your decorations Lyssy!! I always want to buy ornaments from our trips, but so far it’s been an epic FAIL. I think I have one from London, and come to think of it, it’s not on the tree – wonder where that is?? lol. Also love the Burts bees lip balm plug. The honey is one of my faves. I am in 100% agreement in putting up the tree WAY before Thanksgiving. 🙂

    1. Thank you Pam!! I also like ornaments because they don’t take up too much room and are usually easy to find. Haha I always have Burts bees near me – I work at the desk next to the tree all day so the chapstick is always there. The tree is so cozy!
