Hi friends, welcome back to another addition of my monthly series showcasing all my delicious eats during the month. As you know, one of my favorite parts of living in NYC is the abundance of incredible food, and I’ve been on a mission to try all the best places and share my finds along the way. Disclaimer: these posts will cause hunger 🙂 If you want to stay up to date on all the foodie finds, you can follow my food Instagram here.
As usual, I went to Dominique Ansel to grab the monthly cronut flavor of Strawberry Poppyseed with Buttermilk and Passionfruit & Vanilla. I loved the strawberry, but the passionfruit wasn’t my favorite, it was a bit too citrusy for my liking. My ordering so far of most to least favorite: Salted Caramel Pretzel, Lychee Ganache & Mascarpone Ganache, Ube Ganache & Thai Coconut Ganache Cronut, Strawberry Poppyseed & Buttermilk, Almond and Fig, Passionfruit & Vanilla, Caramel Flan & Orange Marmalade, and Green Apple Butterscotch.
When I went to get my strawberry Cronut I was in line and an employee said “Team he’s here” and I saw THE Dominique Ansel himself. He’s not quite another celebrity sighting, but it was still cool to see the mastermind behind the delicious Cronut.
Jon and I went to Mister Dips to get some delicious Carrot Top cone (carrot cake coconut cream cheese cones topped with cinnamon streusel) and the Lickity Split cone of the month of May, a twist of strawberry and banana ice cream that reminded me a bit of froyo. I loved the carrot top because I like a more savory ice cream cone. The Lickity Split was good, but not my preferred ice cream cone.
I was invited to Bacall’s, a steakhouse in Times Square, and I’m going to share more about this in the future, but this Rigatoni Alla Vodka was incredible!
My friend Liz sent us some Kat’z Deli Chicken Noodle Soup and Potato Latkes when we had Covid. It was so delicious and so sweet of her!
I checked out the vegan cafe Beatnic to participate in their Earth Day campaign. I’m not vegan, but this tasted pretty good. My favorite was the chicken tenders made of tempeh and the sprinkle sugar cookie.
We couldn’t eat out as much so we indulged in our favorite pizza from Little Italy and our favorite sushi from Dragon 83.
Funny Face Bakery invited me back to check out their new Salted Caramel Pretzel cookie and it’s my new favorite flavor!
We had a delicious dinner I previously shared at Mexicue. This cornbread was my favorite!
There’s a new bakery in town called Captain Cookie, and they have the best ice cream sandwiches in NYC. A lot of ice cream cookie sandwiches are freezer burned, but this bakery uses fresh cookies and massive scoops of ice cream. You can also buy their cookies, and they tasted like a delicious homemade cookie. These are the perfect size, not half a pound like some, and don’t you give a crazy sugar rush like the other massive cookies in the city.
I was invited to brunch at Citizens of Soho, a cool Australia café, and we had a delicious brunch. I opted for the Belgian waffle with an aperol spritz and Jon ordered the egg sandwich with a matcha latte. They also have some of the best flavored cold brew in NYC.
Home Cooking for the month:
I made these stuffed shells and they took me about two hours, but they gave us three meals and tasted delicious! We don’t have the largest grocery stores in NYC, so I wasn’t able to find jumbo shells. I had to stuff over 40 shells…thank goodness it tasted good!
Easter sugar cookies, I much prefer baking to cooking.
Whenever we don’t know what to eat for dinner, Jon makes us either homemade Mac N’ Cheese or buttered noodles. Simply delicious!
For Easter I made some banana bread and Jon made some homemade meatballs.
What caught your eye this month?
So much food diversity. It looks like all the restaurants are trying to outdo each other Lyssy. I got full just reading your post. Thanks for sharing. Happy Friday. Allan
Haha it does seem like every restaurant tries to make the prettiest food! Luckily it all tastes as good as it looks so far 🙂 Happy Friday!
Definitely the ice cream sandwich caught my eye. It’s enormous!
That ice cream sandwich was so delicious!
Pretty sure I’ve put on several pounds just reading this post Lyssy. Have a great weekend.
It was a calorific post! Hope you have a great weekend too 🙂
Assuredly
All great but if I were to choose I think I’d opt for the Australian Citizens of Soho Regis month as those waffles and Jon’s matcha latte looks to die for Lyssy!
The waffle was delicious, and not too sugary. The matcha latte was delicious and pretty. Have a great weekend!
Everything looks amazing, and I definitely want to try a cronut someday, that is so cool!
You’ll love a cronut! Hope you make it to NYC soon 🙂
The sweets typically grab my attention (and the Cronuts belong in an art museum), but once I saw the rigatoni I could practically taste it. Looking forward to the Bacall’s review!
The rigatoni was so delicious!! I do have a big sweet tooth 🙂
Literally dribbling. That icecream sandwich makes me want to jump through my screen and eat it! 🙂
That ice cream sandwich was so incredible! I’d send you one but it wouldn’t make it haha
Afraid to weigh myself after reading it!!😅 😂 I’ll have some of that cornbread thank you!!!
That cornbread was my favorite!! A very calorific post indeed 🙂
Absolutely everything looked delicious.
So yummy. Better food than we have here.
We are spoiled!
Your a cure for foodaholics!
This all looks mouth watering!!!😋
