Hi friends, welcome back! I hope you all had a safe and healthy Easter! It sure was strange to be in quarantine and not surrounded by our family on Easter. Jon and I were supposed to be spending the holiday in Atlanta with his family, but the virus had other plans for us. This is the first holiday that Jon and I have spent by ourselves, so I thought it would be fun to document our day. I know at some point, once we have kids, we will be staying in New York for holidays and will have to start our own traditions.
Jon and I started our Easter with some homemade cold brew. Our favorite coffee right now is a caramel blend from Starbucks, and it smells amazing!! We use it in both our filtered coffee and cold brew.
Our Easter mugs and some Easter bunnies 🙂
We watched church while we enjoyed our coffee.
We facetimed both our families and then were ready for our workout! This was one of the first years I wasn’t in a sugar rush from jelly beans, so I had a pretty good workout.
Afterwards, we had some yummy cinnamon rolls. I always have cinnamon rolls for the holidays with my family, so I had to keep the tradition alive!
We spent the rest of the afternoon hanging out, I read a little bit of my book, and I’d highly recommend Little Fires Everywhere! I haven’t read a book this quickly in a long time, I’ll be sad when I’m done with it.
Jon and I took a walk to get some fresh air, and the city was empty! I made some masks from an old t-shirt to wear and keep us safe. We live in the Financial District and we walked past the famous bull and there was not a single person around it! Usually it’s packed at all times so this was incredibly rare to see.
For dinner we made a Blue Apron Savory Beef & Rice Bowls and it was delicious! We signed up for Blue Apron when the stay-at-home order started in order to guarantee some fresh food every week, and we’ve been really enjoying it! They send you all the ingredients and directions, and it takes about 30 minutes to make each meal. We’ve really liked half of the meals we’ve made so far, but it’s keeping us entertained this quarantine.
We ended our night with some cookies and watching some Parks & Rec.
I hope you all got to virtually spend time with friends/family and had a nice Easter! I’m in a little disbelief that last Easter we confirmed our wedding venue and met the pastor, and now Jon and I are having to reschedule to next year. Life’s crazy, and I hope that next year everything will work out and we will be able spend Easter with our friends and family!
