Hi friends, welcome back! May seemed to fly by even though we weren’t very busy. Our weekends were spent hanging with our friends, eating lots of pizza, visiting the Whitney museum, we celebrated our anniversary, and we had visits from both of Jon’s sisters and their significant others. We don’t get many visitors so we always enjoy showing people around and making sure they eat well 🙂 (disclaimer: this post will cause hunger)

On to my post 🙂 I’ve been linking up with the first blogger I ever read, Shay Shull, for my What’s Up posts. Each month I’m answering the following questions:

What I’m eating: it seems this is the year of pizza and in May we went to a different pizza spot each weekend. I’m going to have to do a pizza roundup soon but May’s spots included in chronological order: Mamas Too, John’s of Bleeker Street, Lupo Rosso, and L’Industrie. Each was a very different style, but Lupo Rosso & L’Industrie are our top favorite pizza spots in NYC.

What I’m reminiscing about: spending our anniversary in Positano last year. We had a private boat tour, lunch on the beach, and dinner at one of the top restaurants. It’ll be hard to top that!

What I’m loving: these mango cream bars from Trader Joe’s. They’re our current favorite dessert and I believe only available in late spring/summer

Favorite post of the month: Vizcaya Museum & Garden Interior Tour

What I’m Up to: it seems our weekends revolve around food lately. We had two dinner parties with our friends in May. For Cinco de Mayo Chef Jon made some delicious tacos, and for Memorial Day our friends made us some ribs and pulled pork sliders. I contributed the pasta salad. It’s nice having friends that can cook!

What I’m working on: we’re heading back to Nantucket in June so I’m planning a relaxing week

What I’m excited about: this past weekend we were strolling through the West Village with Jon’s sister and her husband and couldn’t believe it when we saw Timothee Chalamet and Kylie Jenner having lunch together at Sofia’s Bagels. They were sitting in the window like normal people and we all just kind of froze and wanted to make sure it was really them. I felt weird taking a picture so you’ll just have to believe us that it really happened ha!
What I’m watching/reading: Bridgerton, The Bear, Abbott Elementary, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and we also restarted Schitt’s Creek as our winddown before bed.
Books I read this month:
- Hello Beautiful by Ann Napolitano
- The Husbands by Holly Gramazio
What I’m doing this weekend: it’s looking like a beautiful weekend, so we’ll have to figure something out soon
What I’m looking forward to next month: celebrating Jon’s birthday in Nantucket 🙂
What are you looking forward to in June?
Ahhhh New York in springtime. Looks like you had a busy May and so much pizza Lyssy. I am with you though. There is just so much good pizza to enjoy. Enjoy your June week in Nantucket. I am sure it will be relaxing. Have a great Wednesday. Allan
No shortage of good pizza here, that’s for sure! It’s rare that pizza ever sounds bad to us too. Thank you! Hopefully lots of relaxing at the beach and strolling along the beautiful homes.
So many beautiful and colourful photos, Lyysy and yes, your post did cause hunger. Your post also reminded me that I have been craving a proper pizza for some time now, I might need to attend to that and make one at home! I hope you had a wonderful wedding anniversary celebration! Thanks for sharing, and have a good day 🙂 Aiva xx
I think homemade pizza is a great idea! Thank you! We had a nice low-key anniversary with a delicious dinner 🙂
🥰🥰🥰
Funny and appropriate that I’m eating leftover pizza for breakfast as I read this. Sounds like a delicious month!
Yum! Sounds like a great breakfast! Lots of good food was had for sure!
Fortunately I’ve just had lunch but those pizzas looked gi-normous. We spent much of May in Spain while June will definitely be in France albeit with some trips up and down the coast.
The slices were pretty big! Sounds like a wonderful May and June sounds fabulous as well. Enjoy!
Maybe you’ll run into Shay Shull in Nantucket! Have a wonderful Summer.
I’d definitely fangirl! Hope you have a wonderful summer too 🙂
We’re coming to New York City in June!! We’re so excited! I’ve been looking back through some of your posts for food recs. 🙂 I hope you run into Shay on Nantucket as well, that would be awesome, please take a picture!!
So exciting!! Crossing my fingers for good weather for you! If you have any questions let me know I’m happy to help 🙂 I’d be so nervous if I see here ha! That would be cool though I did see another blogger I follow there as we were leaving, so you never know!
I just want that box of mango cream bars!!!!
They are the perfect summer treat!!
Oh yes, summer on Nantucket is wonderful! Though I am still drooling over those Portantino photos (and maybe a bit of your food photos too). 🙂
We are looking forward to a relaxing vacation! Positano sure was a dream!
A wonderful, food-filled May! Funny enough, my partner and I are planning a “pizza crawl” in June to try some pizza spots in LA (especially those serving NY slices). May felt like it dragged for me, so I’m looking forward to June, as my partner and I will go on a trip! Have fun celebrating Jon’s birthday in Nantucket 🙂
Sounds like my kind of crawl! Hopefully you’ll post about it 🙂 Thank you, hope you and your partner have a great trip!!
I love your month of May, full of pleasant things. Nantucket is a good memory, a place where there are so many relaxed Jeeps with their plates to drive on the beaches.
Thank you! I love all the flowers there too, such a pretty island and so relaxed. It would be cool to have one of those jeeps they look like fun.
Mmm pizza. It’s probably one of the few foods I could eat every weekend and not be sick of it. You should definitely do a pizza roundup!!
I agree, pizza rarely ever sounds bad! I must have over a hundred pizza pictures haha so a roundup is needed 🙂
Have the best time in Nantucket! And looks like a wonderful May – and what a sighting at Sophia’s Bagels!
Thank you!! I’d previously only seen Alec Baldwin and Bill Murray, so this was a much cooler celeb sighting! They know I exist hahah
I know its an entire month of food, but I feel full after seeing all of those delicious pictures 🙂 Have fun in Nantucket. I visited in the late fall one year and it was very, very cold. It’s not great that the weather is my biggest memory, so I need to see some nice pictures from you 🙂
It was a good month of eating! Thank you, hopefully all the hydrangeas are all blooming when we’re there. You are right, it’s not great to remember a place because of the weather, but it happens.
Have a great time in Nantucket! Lots of great food as always, Lyssy. I can never get tired of pizza and NY slices have a special place in my memory. I think you’ll also inspire a lot of people to check out Sophia’s Bagels…
Thank you! So much good pizza in NYC. I’d rather have a good cheap slice, than an ok sit down meal any day. I might have to get a bagel there to see if it’s any good. I think Timothee is shooting the Bob Dylan movie around the city or NJ, so maybe there’ll be more sightings.
Great looking food! I wouldn’t recognize most celebs. I think a lot of them like NY because most people don’t recognize them or don’t do anything more than snap a pic.
