What’s Up: October 2023

Hi friends, welcome back! I just love fall and October. It finally cooled off in NYC, but with that came a lot of rain! It down poured seven weekends in a row!! We sadly skipped the Great Jack O Lantern Blaze because of the rain, next year I’ll get the tickets that allow you to go any day. Despite the less than stellar weather, we managed to get out apple picking with our friends, watched lots of football, made chili, indulged in pumpkin treats, and strolled through the fall decor in NYC. It was a cozy fall and I’m still waiting for the leaves to change.

On to my post 🙂 I’ve been linking up with the first blogger I ever read, Shay Shull, for my What’s Up posts. Each month I’m answering the following questions:

What I’m eating: I’ll be sharing my NYC Foodie Friday next Friday but some of the things we’ve been eating at home: Chef Jon made some delicious baked ziti.

I made my favorite fall cookies: Butternut Bakery Brown Butter & Maple Chewy Pumpkin Cookies. I was going to share a post about the recipe (I add chocolate chips), but I think that violates some copyright laws. I promise you will love these and the brown butter will make your home smell incredible!

It wouldn’t be fall without Jon’s mom’s delicious, homemade pumpkin bread.

What I’m reminiscing about: it’s been one year since we moved into our apartment! It was a long day moving by ourselves, but it was so worth it!

What I’m loving: our new bed! We decided on the Casper Snow mattress and we love it so far. I’m still working on the finishing touches of making it look like a Pottery Barn bed, but it’s coming along. My only complaint is I never want to get out of bed in the morning!

Favorite post of the month: Positano – Path of the Gods Hike, it was just so beautiful!

What I’m Up to: all the fall things! We went apple picking, checked out a pumpkin festival on Governor’s Island, saw the UWS and UES Halloween decorations, watched all the football, and are enjoying my cozy decorations.

What I’m working on: I’m planning on sharing Switzerland in January when it’s gloomy, but I’m working on it now before I forget everything we did. I’m also making a plan to see and share all the NYC Christmas decorations again.

What I’m excited about: the most wonderful time of the year starts in November for me 🙂

I think I’m going to send Santa this picture as my Christmas list 🙂

What I’m watching/reading: The Morning Show, Goosebumps, Frasier, football, and non-spooky Halloween movies.

Books I read this month:

What I’m doing this weekend: my parents are in town and I’ve got a full itinerary of all my favorite sights in the city!

What I’m looking forward to next month: next month is busy again! I’m heading to Michigan for a baby shower and to decorate my parents’ house, we have a wedding in Nashville, and then back to Michigan for Thanksgiving. I am also excited to share all of the Christmas cheer in NYC again! They must know I’m ready because they started decorating parts of the city already.

What are you looking forward to in November?
