Hi friends, welcome back and Happy Valentine’s Day! Jon and I celebrated this weekend and went out to dinner at da Toscano in the West Village. He surprised me with the reservation and we had an excellent dinner! It was perfect so we could avoid the crowds and we didn’t want a set Valentine’s Day menu that restaurants usually have.
We started with drinks and delicious Rosemary Foccacia bread and a PB & J Bombolone. The PB & J Bombolone had Foie Gras, shallot jam, quince, sesame butter and tasted very unique. I’ve never seen anything like it before and I enjoyed trying it. I’m glad I didn’t know Foie Gras is made from duck or goose liver or I would’ve been hesitant to try it.
For our entrees I went with the Pappardelle Venetian (duck ragu with shaved Foie Gras) and it was exquisite! Jon was amazed at how soft the noodles were.
Jon ordered the Garganelli Verde (ragú Bolognese) and it was excellent too.
We were definitely full, but we always save room for the dessert. The Tiramisu Gelato Sundae was the perfect way to end the meal and it had mascarpone crema, ladyfingers, and cocoa. This was a large dessert so I highly definitely recommend sharing!
It wouldn’t be a holiday without some festive treats! I made this themed charcuterie board, chocolate bark, sugar cookies, and I received these adorable Baked by Melissa cupcakes.
I also have a few Valentine’s Day decorations to add some much-needed color to our apartment.
I hope you all have a Happy Valentine’s Day!!
