Hi friends, welcome back! It’s been a little quiet over here because Jon and I spent the last week in Michigan celebrating my birthday, seeing our families, celebrating Jon’s Situs (grandma in Lebanese) 85th birthday, and attending a golf outing. With all the flight cancellations/delays/lost luggage, we decided to make the drive from NYC to Michigan. We left Sunday after brunch, drove about four and a half hours to our hotel for the night in Pennsylvania, and finished the remaining five and a half hours the following morning. We were having such a nice time with our families that I hardly have any pictures to show for.
Tuesday was my 29th birthday…one more year until the dirty thirty… I woke up to some lottery cards from my dad, but sadly none were winners. I think I used all my lotto luck on my 25th birthday when I scratched off a $100 prize. I did a Peloton yoga class, and then my mom and I went to get our nails done and grab my free birthday Starbucks.
In between calls and texts from family and friends, I read my book and kept an eye on the squirrel terrorizing my parents’ birdfeeder.
My grandma came over for dinner and I requested my dad’s flank steak and some veggies. I eat out so much so I was really craving a home cooked meal, especially on the grill! You just can’t recreate the taste of something on the grill in an apartment.
My mom made me her famous caramel cake and we finished the night with a few episodes of Virgin River. It was a nice, relaxing birthday.
On Thursday we headed to the west side of Michigan to see Jon’s grandparents and his Situ. We hung out, got ice cream, rode along while the guys golfed, and indulged in some Crumbl Cookies.
Saturday, we had dinner celebrating Situ’s belated 85th birthday.
We were supposed to golf Sunday in Jon’s annual family outing, but sadly the weather prevented us from playing. While we were on the driving range warming up, it started downpouring and wasn’t going to let up anytime soon. We were extremely bummed not to be playing, but relieved we had our dry clothes in the car. We still had the lunch part of the outing and visited with family, and then it was time to start the trek back to NYC.
Despite not being able to golf, we had a great time in Michigan seeing our families 🙂
