Hi friends, welcome back! Christmas is almost here and I’m wrapping up the season on my blog with part one of my Master List. These are decorations worth seeing, but not quite deserving of their own post. This post will cover everything at 42nd Street and above. I’ll start on the Upper East Side, more known for the Halloween displays, but there were quite a few homes in the holiday spirit. Most people had simple wreaths and garland, but a handful went the extra mile, although very tasteful compared to Dyker Heights. I went after some snowfall so these looked extra festive. I’ll have a snowy Central Park post for you next year 🙂
76th between Fifth & Madison Ave. The red ornament house is Kelly Ripa’s.

62nd between Second & Third Ave. This street was my favorite, especially the second townhome.

The Bloomberg trees are always a must see for me.

Radio City along with the life-size candy canes and ornaments across the street are always popular.

The display at 1221 Sixth Avenue is relatively new.

The Fox News marks the end of decorations along Sixth Avenue.

Finally, Grand Central, although they went very minimal.

What was your favorite spot on the list? Stay tuned for my final Christmas post!
Another wonderful display of holiday decorations and the light dusting of snow makes them feel more Christmasy.. 🎅Maggie
That snow really was the cherry on top!
Hard pass on the 1221 Sixth Avenue decor. In my book you never walk through (i.e. maim) a Christmas tree! My favorite of the houses is the third one in, with the green garlands and trees. It helps to have such a stately facade! And speaking of houses, it’s a little strange to hear these walk-ups referred to as “houses”, when we rural types think of a house as a free-standing structure. But nevertheless, they are “homes”. I can only imagine how elegant and decorated they are on the inside.
Ha I never thought of it that way! The third house is very tastefully done, the stately facade does help too. Kelly Ripa did a tour with aRchitectural Digest recently, it was interesting to look inside their home. It is funny I do refer to my apartment as a home. Definitely a different way of life!
These are so beautiful! That red ornament railing/archway is amazing.
It is pretty amazing! I wonder if they do it themselves.
There are some truly gorgeous displays and others where some restraint is called for, particularly with the inflatables. Obviously, we all need at least a couple of full-sized sentry soldiers.
The home with the inflatables does a lot for Halloween too, I always wonder how they store it all, but I suppose they can afford a nice storage unit. Those soldiers do look nice on those pretty stoops.
That’s quite probably how they deal with it
All very attractive and festive but if I had to choose I’d probably plump for Photo 22. Have you ever been to see The Rockettes? That’s something I’d love to do one Christmas.
I bet that one looks very pretty lit up at night. We haven’t been to the Rockettes yet, we are thinking when Violet is older. Jon’s parents went last year and raved about it. They said they’d definitely see it again some day.
So many gorgeously decorated homes and buildings Lyssy. NYC is positively all aglow for the season. Thanks for sharing. Allan
It really does! There is so much variety too. I’ve got lots of ideas for my future house one day.
Love the collection and assortment of holiday decorations. This really makes me want to add more to my outdoor display.
There are some nice, tasteful townhomes this year! I look forward to decorating a porch one day.
Absolutely gorgeous! I especially love the first photo, and the snow on top really adds to that winter wonderland vibe. Happy holidays, Lyssy!
That house always does a nice job decorating for the holidays! The snow was a paid actor ha. Happy Holidays to you too!
Honestly, I love the minimalist look of Grand Central Station! I also like the Bloomberg tree.
I thought Grand Central used to decorate more, but my past photos proved me wrong ha. I like how the Bloomberg tree is tucked away, you kind of have to know where to look.
Honestly, your photos should be in every NYC travel brochure worldwide, as they paint a homely and entertaining image of the city. 🙂
The dusting of snow on the decorations is just extra stunning! Happy Christmassss 🙂
Lovely collection of festive decorations. I’m amazed that some people manage to go from Halloween to Christmas without too much effort.
All of these spots looks so whimsical!
