Hi friends, welcome back! Compared to January, February seemed to fly by. We had some brunches, participated in a delicious food tour, enjoyed the Super Bowl, and got a little bit of snow. Jon and I also spent a day exploring some potential neighborhoods in Connecticut. We just re-signed our lease through May 2025 so no plans to leave yet, but the end goal is a yard for my future Golden Retriever. While out there we had lunch at Grigg Street Pizza in Greenwich and thankfully the pizza was delicious!

On to my post 🙂 I’ve been linking up with the first blogger I ever read, Shay Shull, for my What’s Up posts. Each month I’m answering the following questions:

What I’m eating: I tend to eat the same thing every day and my current favorite dinner is this lemon, olive oil, romaine, and parmesan salad I found on Instagram from Erin O’Brien. I’ve modified it a bit to include chicken, chickpeas, spinach, and toasted bread crumbs. It’s very light and refreshing!

Jon made a Detroit style pizza for our Superbowl.

What I’m reminiscing about: Jon was searing some meat and it smoked up the apartment, so we opened the windows and a nice breeze came in. It reminded him of sitting on our balcony in Positano, which led us to reminisce about how much we loved it there.

What I’m loving: Valentine’s Day! I don’t have many decorations, but I enjoy the little pops of color. I also made some sugar cookies, but I accidentally doubled the butter, so I doubled everything else and ended up with 50 cookies. We deferred our celebration to yesterday and saw Hadestown on Broadway. It was a great show!

Favorite post of the month: The North Face Trail in Murren – it was just so incredible!

What I’m Up to: I recently completed my 1000th Peloton ride and got a shout out from the instructor!
What I’m working on: figuring out what to blog about next. We like to hibernate the first quarter of the year but that doesn’t make for very exciting blog content…
What I’m excited about: we got a membership to the New York Botanical Garden and I’m excited to check out their annual orchid show. We last went in 2022 and had such a great time.

What I’m watching/reading: Hollywood Houselift with Jeff Lewis which led us to watching Flipping Out. We are still loving The Middle, Abbott Elementary, and now professional golf is back in full swing.
Books I read this month:
- Smells Like Tween Spirit by Laurie Gelman
- The Last Love Note by Emma Grey
- The Good Part by Sophie Cousens
What I’m doing this weekend: seeing the off-Broadway production of Little Shop of Horrors. It’s currently starring Darren Criss and Evan Rachel Woods so I’m excited. My friend bought tickets for the wrong weekend and asked if we wanted to buy them, so we figured we should be a little spontaneous and said yes. Last year we didn’t see any shows and now we’re making up for lost time.
What I’m looking forward to next month: March Madness, seeing Enemy of the People on Broadway, and spring weather hopefully arriving!

What are you looking forward to in March?
A totally awesome recap Lyssy. Keep on dreaming about that front yard and puppy and it will happen. Love the frosting on the trees in your first photo. That pizza does look good. We loved our New York style pizza on our visits. Thanks for sharing and have a great day. Allan
I babysat a golden puppy in an apartment and that was exhausting! Made me realize I need a house I can just let them out to door for potty training. That snowfall was a pretty one but melted pretty fast. Can’t beat a good New York style slice!
I’ve been wanting to see Hadestown. My son sings all the songs already and it sounds so fun.
It was a great show!
I’d love to see a live production of Little Shop of Horrors. Let us know how it was! Maggie
Will do! I’m excited to see it!
Your Valentine’s Day cookies look amazing and so does the city covered in snow. I am very much looking forward to spring and seeing spring flowers. The daffodils are already in full bloom, but I am keen on seeing tulips and bluebells. Thanks for sharing, and have a wonderful day. Aiva xx
I love making sugar cookies for the holidays 🙂 The tulips are always my favorite! We have a lot of daffodils and bluebells around the city, but they haven’t bloomed yet. Hopefully soon!
🥰🥰🥰
I think you should have shared those cookies with your readers Lyssy
I would love to! I have tons frozen in my freezer.
Send some over!
What am I looking forward to in March? Plenty of bike racing including the conclusion of Paris-Nice for obvious reasons. My twin godsons will be visiting along with their parents and grand-parents – always an occasion to celebrate. The 2024 MotoGP season gets underway and, at the end of the month, we’re heading to Mallorca for a week’s vacation.
Sounds like you’re going to have a spectacular March! Looking forward to reading about it, especially Mallorca!
Thanks Lyssy
Those Valentine’s day cookies look delicious. I’m excited for you to check out the annual orchid show too and to report back. Orchids are such beautiful flowers.
I always love making holiday sugar cookies. Orchids are so beautiful and they have such a huge collection of them and all kinds of varieties.
Sounds like a fun (albeit cold) February! Exciting you’re potentially moving to Connecticut; a way to get out on NYC, yet be close enough to it to visit. The blogging slump is real, and the way I combat it is to do filler posts that showcase my photography and listicles (not always great, but they’re low-effort and still engage in the blogging community)! I know other bloggers who use the WordPress daily prompts to draw inspiration from for posts. February was sort of a blah month for me, but I’m really looking forward to March (my birthday month!) and spring after that! Have a great month ahead!
It will be about an hour commute on the train which isn’t too bad relatively. I purposely saves Switzerland for January to avoid the slump, but I can’t drag it out any longer haha. Lists are a great idea too, at least I live in a place with millions of things to do, just got to get out there. Happy early birthday and hope we get some great spring weather and blooms!
I love your opening shot, Lyssy, and I wouldn’t have minded a cookie or two. March will mean outings and meals with friends, and then a visit to the UK at Easter to see family. Have a good one!
Thank you! I still have plenty of extra cookies, some with your name on them! Sounds like a wonderful month ahead for you 🙂
🤗🩷
Another year in your lovely apartment with its stunning views isn’t too bad and you can look forward to having a home with its own garden maybe next year (and of course a retriever too).
Very true! We are in no real rush to move out, especially now that we have the extra bedroom, but we would like to have a family and be out there before the kids would start school.
March Madness – YES! Your Spartans have an outside shot if they go deep in the Big 10 tournament. My Irish won’t even make it to the NIT. There’s always football next fall ha. I hope you and Jon end up in Conn or another New England state. I always thought it’d be cool to live up there, with the quaint towns and so much Colonial American history. Care to share your frosting technique? Those hearts look perfect!
I had high hopes for MSU this year… who would’ve thought the Lions would be the best Michigan team I’d root for. I think we are pretty set on Conn so Jon doesn’t have too long of a commute. He works right by Grand Central so it makes it easy. Ha the frosting is just the Duncan hines can but I melt it a little bit in a bowl and then I dip the cookie so it comes out almost professional looking.
“Best Michigan team I’d root for…” Love that qualifier to avoid any respect for the Wolverines 😂
Harbaugh was just too weird and fishy for me – too many scandals to be a coincidence in my opinion 😂
Those heart cookies look delicious. I am so ready for March and those flowers are beautiful
Hopefully we get some great spring weather and beautiful blooms soon!
I’m so envious of the annual orchid show!! February looks to have been a great month and I’m excited for March and spring to arrive 🙂
The greenhouse is nice and warm so it feels like summer at the orchid show! Hopefully we both get a beautiful spring soon 🙂
We are also looking forward to the arrival of spring. February was mild temperature wise, but pretty grey and gloomy. Lovely blossoms in the park. Cookies look delicious!
February was pretty gloomy here too, it’s amazing what a difference a few days of sunshine can make! Luckily those cookies freeze well.
It sounds like you had a great February! The Botanical Garden Show sounds amazing, and there is something refreshing about seeing all the flowers in bloom in early spring!
Looks like a lot of fun. Thanks for the share and great pictures!
