Hi friends, welcome back to my last What’s Up post of the year! Whew, November sure flew by! I was on the move again starting with a trip to Michigan to decorate my parent’s home and attend my best friend Beth’s baby shower. We’ve been friends since preschool so it’s cool to be there for each other’s big life moments. The following weekend Jon and I flew to Nashville to celebrate his old roommate’s wedding. We spent Thanksgiving with my family, and now we’re back in NYC until Christmas. Almost all the decorations are up so I’ll have a very busy next few weeks of seeing all the festiveness around the city. I sure love this time of year!

On to my post 🙂 I’ve been linking up with the first blogger I ever read, Shay Shull, for my What’s Up posts. Each month I’m answering the following questions:

What I’m eating: no trip to Nashville would be complete without some Hattie B’s hot chicken. They sure give massive portions, our meals were $12 and $14 for all that food and sides! We also went to The Row Kitchen and Pub and I got some pancakes and Jon got an egg scramble.

What I’m reminiscing about: our Christmas tree in 2017 and how many memories and ornaments we’ve added since. I even have to decorate the back now because we have so many ornaments.

What I’m loving: all the decorations around the city. We saw the Wall Street tree being put up and it is such a process!

Favorite post of the month: my parents visit in NYC. I loved showing them around all my favorite places and of course eating all the delicious food.

What I’m Up to: I’ve been a busy elf decorating for Christmas. I shared my apartment decorations on Monday and I’ll be sharing my parents’ home tomorrow.

What I’m working on: making my way through my Christmas Bucket List and getting all my blog posts ready to go!

What I’m excited about: this is my favorite time of year, I’m excited about everything except that it gets dark at 4:30 now..
What I’m watching/reading: The Morning Show, The Santa Clauses, The Middle, Frasier, football, and Christmas movies
Books I read this month: I’ve officially completed my goal of reading 36 books this year. I found this picture of me as a kid, I’ve always been a book worm.

- Nash’s Ashes by Sarah Adler
- Bad Summer People by Emma Rosenblum
- The Guest by Emma Cline – this book made me mad, nothing ever happened in it
- The Wake-Up Call by Beth O’Leary
What I’m doing this weekend: watching some college football, maybe baking some peanut butter blossom Christmas cookies…we have no real plans this weekend.
What I’m looking forward to next month: all the Christmas things!
What are you looking forward to in December?
What a great WUW! I love your festiveness! Happy Christmas season!
Thank you! Hope you have a wonderful Christmas!
You’ve definitely been a busy bee 🐝
For sure, I call these last few weeks of the year my blogger busy season 🙂
Very apt
I’ve been to Hattie B’s too and remember the big portions. Nashville has so much to see and do. I would love to know NYC’s budget for Christmas decorations; probably a bigger number than I’d guess. And I look forward to seeing more of the Christmas “windows” in your post. The teaser with the saxophone in the corner is striking.
This was our second time and Hattie B’s was as good as we remembered. Oh man the budget is probably outrageous but that is a good question! The windows are great this year!
The picture of you and Alex and Beth at her baby shower brought me to tears. I taught all three of you girls in my third grade class. You have no idea how much it means to teachers to see the accomplishments of their former students. Your mom Sue and I still connect and I know Jane is proud too.
We’ve come a long way since third grade! I think it’s funny I see Alex more than Beth now. Mrs. Roach is smiling down on how well all her kids turned out.
Busy, busy, busy Lyssy. Love the look of those chicken dishes. I bet they were delicious. I also love your freckle faced kiddie photo. So nice when parents leave us the ability to time travel by taking and keeping photos. Happy Wednesday. Allan
The chicken was delicious and very filling! My mom always thought I looked like Lindsey Lohan as a kid with my little freckles.
Happy holidays! Despite never visiting Nashville, I do enjoy a hot chicken (although I can only handle up to medium-spicy, haha)! Christmas is truly on the way, as here in LA people have been putting up Christmas decorations even before Thanksgiving! Wishing you a wonderful holiday season ahead!
Happy Holidays to you too! I have a pretty low tolerance for spice too haha. They had a spice called “cluck-you” I was not about to find out how spicy that was. It seems every year the decorations go up earlier, but I’m here for it!
I can see why you are so excited for the holidays to begin! Christmas in New York is magical.
It really is so magical!
Busy month, but can you come and decorate my tree??
I think a Christmas decorator is my true calling!
Busy Bee!!! You’ve prompted me to START thinking about thinking about getting the decorations down from the attic!!
The quicker you get it down the longer you can enjoy it 😉
I am loving all the Christmas decorations as well. It’s such a festive time of the year. Have fun decorating your parents’ home!
It’s such a cheery time of year, I just wish it didn’t go by so fast!
Ahhh you say ornaments…on your last post I wanted to write ‘same bauble as you from Positano’ and then thought…do Americans call them baubles. And then reading this I know your ornament is our bauble 🙂 Beautiful post, like you I’m feeling all festive.
I sometimes read British based Christmas books and now I know the difference between ornaments and baubles because of you haha. It is such a great time of year 🙂
The Nashville food looks so good! Holidays are a wonderful time to catch up with friends and family, it is the best time of the year!
It was a yummy weekend in Nashville. The holidays are such a wonderful time of year 🙂
Anything to do with food and Nashville is just so good! Glad you are enjoying your favourite time of the year. The city looks amazing! November was kind of quiet for us, but we did enjoy some lovely sunsets on the Croatian coast.
Good to hear from you! Hot chicken in Nashville is always a good idea. The city is all festive and I’m making a lot of progress on my bucket list. It is nice to have a quiet month and I bet the sunsets you saw were spectacular!
Christmas and its festive atmosphere is finally up in the air 💃💃💃
Let’s meet up next time you’re in Nashville! I’m just 2 hours from there!
