Celebrating My 30th Birthday!

Hi friends, welcome back! On Wednesday I officially entered a new decade, my 30s. It’s not ideal having a milestone birthday in the middle of the week, but I had the nice and relaxing day I hoped for. Jon bought some decorations and made the apartment festive while I slept in a little bit.

My friend sent me some cronuts, so I made a little cake out of them. The flavor this month is Matcha & Coconut.

The main event of the day was getting a massage. I had a lot of knots so it wasn’t as relaxing as I thought it would be, but I definitely needed it! The rest of the day was spent hearing from friends and family, opening presents, and relaxing. For dinner all I wanted was our favorite takeout sushi. We haven’t had it since October when we moved into our new apartment, and it was as good as I remembered.

I had originally wanted a brownie skillet for dessert, but we were so full from the sushi we just had a little bit of ice cream.

I had a very relaxing start to my 30s! My real birthday adventure will be paragliding and hiking in Switzerland in a little over a week. Twenty-year-old me never would have predicted where I’d be at thirty, so I’m excited to see what the next decade has in store!

  1. Many happy returns Lyssy. You’ve got 15 years on me, I am quite jealous. Cronuts and sushi sound like fantastic birthday food to me. I also went for a massage recently and, like you, it was knot central. Hopefully our next ones will be a little less punishing. Thanks for sharing some of your special moments.

    1. Thank you! It was a delicious birthday for sure. I think my last massage was 5+ years ago, I was long overdue. I hope the next ones are more relaxing.

  2. Wishing you the best as you enter your FOURTH decade of life. You have no idea how proud I am to have been your 3rd grade teacher. I always knew you would be a successful adult but who could have predicted the path in life that you have taken.

    1. Thank you!! I agree, never would’ve guessed my life would wind up like it did. Also never would have predicted I could be a little social butterfly in NYC

  3. Happy 30th birthday! I haven’t checked your blog lately (busy summer!) but I’m glad I did today! Such a fun way to celebrate at home. Enjoy your trip!

  4. 30th birthday is such a momentous occasion. It’s the moment you leave your 20s, and with it, the last vestiges of your childhood and early adulthood. It’s a great time to reflect on the past, celebrate the present, and look forward to the future. Wishing you a fantastic 30th birthday 🙂 Aiva xx

  5. Happy birthday! I turned 30 earlier this year in the spring, and like you, I celebrated with a massage and good food! Matcha cronut sounds like my kind of jam, as do the sushi. May your 30s be wonderful for you and enjoy your time in Switzerland!

  6. Happy Birthday, Lyssy! The 30s are a wonderful decade (if ours were any indication). There may be more (positive) change in those ten years than in any other ten. You’ll have to let me know if you agree… at least ten years from now 🙂

  7. Happy belated birthday 🥳 so sorry for the delay but I’m just getting back here 😅 what a great idea having sushi for your birthday … Let me see if I can find a good one on my next trip for my birthday but it’s on my list now thanks to you 😊 Glad you had fun!
