Hi friends, welcome back! A few weekends ago Event Cruises invited us onboard their two-hour bottomless brunch cruise along the NYC harbor. Jon and I were looking forward to a change of scenery and getting out on the water. The boat disembarks from Pier 36 at 12pm and upon boarding we were handed a mimosa and seated at our table on the lower deck. Everyone is guaranteed a private table and window seats cost extra. The interior is fully covered, so you don’t have to worry about the weather spoiling your day or dress for the elements.
Included in the ticket are bottomless mimosas and a buffet brunch. The food left a lot to be desired, but it is on a boat without a kitchen. A waiter was always ready to refill your mimosa, but you could also order mixed drinks off the menu for an additional charge.
The cruise was fancier than I expected and had an interesting mix of passengers. There were couples, friends celebrating birthdays, and it seems like they kept the families upstairs so maybe that level was tamer. There was also a DJ near our table keeping the partying vibe going.
Our favorite part of the cruise was seeing the NYC skyline. We cruised under the Brooklyn Bridge and then up the Hudson River. We were free to go out on the deck as much as we pleased and the sun came out about halfway through the ride.
Jon and I made our way out to the deck and secured a prime spot before we made it to the Statue of Liberty. We idled here a good ten minutes so everyone had a chance to get their pictures.
After Lady Liberty we headed back to the pier before disembarking. We had a fun afternoon out on the water and it was a nice change of pace. The cruise was rowdier than I expected, I was envisioning a peaceful cruise along the river, but it was definitely a party! Tickets retail at $145 for the window and $115 for standard, but they are usually on sale for at least 30% off. Event Cruises also has a dinner cruise and a wine and cheese pairing cruise that would be fun. If you’re looking for a food focused brunch this isn’t for you, but if you want bottomless mimosas with a beautiful change of scenery this cruise would be a good option to add to the itinerary.
