What’s Up: April 2022

Hi friends, welcome back! This month I had a strong start to crossing off items on my NYC Spring Bucket List with a hike in the Hudson Valley and wandering through Central Park. My spring adventures were interrupted by Covid, but luckily we both had relatively mild cases and had The Masters to keep us entertained. I’m finishing up the month doing all the spring things because I’ll be gone most of May. This summer is going to be so busy, so it was nice to have April to get organized and rested.

On to my post 🙂 I’ve been linking up with my first and favorite blogger I ever read, Shay Shull, for my What’s Up posts. Each month I’m answering the following questions:

What I’m eating: due to our quarantine we didn’t eat out as much as we usually do, so we got our favorite takeout pizza and sushi. We’d been eating out so much this year that I missed our takeout spots. I’m going to do a combined April/May Foodie Friday post so stay tuned for that 🙂

What I’m reminiscing about: this May will mark four years of me living in NYC! The years have flown by and I never expected to embrace and love life in the city so much. I’ve mastered the subways, discovered my favorite spots, and always see something new when I venture outside. I know my time in the city isn’t forever, so I’m making the most of this chapter I’m in and enjoying every second of it 🙂

What I’m loving: all the spring things! It seems NYC is really showing off its spring colors and I’m absolutely loving it. I went back a few days after I took pictures in Battery Park and it was even more stunning. I think fall is still my favorite time in NYC, but spring is a very close second. If you need some spring happiness you can check out my Battery Park tour, Central Park #1, Central Park #2, the Macy’s Flower Show, and the Orchid Show at the New York Botanical Garden and more are coming!

Favorite post of the month: this was tough, but I’m picking my hiking post. It was the perfect day and so refreshing to get out of the city and be surrounded by nature. Hopefully we can go hiking more now that we have the logistics down.

What I’m Up to: I reached my 500th Peloton yoga and cycling class this month and I was very excited when the instructors called out my username (lyssyinthecity) and congratulated me during my classes. It can be very difficult to get a shout out, I’ve gotten a few during my yoga classes but never on the bike. I finally got one in the last minute of class and I smiled so big!

What I’m working on: I’m trying to get as many blog posts ready as I can before my trips. It will be good to keep me busy while I impatiently wait to start packing, and will give me some breathing room for when I get back.

What I’m excited about: so much travelling this summer! We added Montreal to the itinerary, Jon has to go this summer for work, and I’m excited to finally be able to tag along for a long weekend. We’re going in June so the weather should be perfect too.

What I’m watching/reading:

We finished Bridgerton season 2, The Masters, March Madness, and The Parisian Agency. We can’t quite figure out a new show to invest in but I think we will start the new season of Outlander soon.

Books I read:

What I’m doing this weekend: I have brunch and then I’m going to the Brooklyn Botanical Garden to see the Cherry Blossoms 🙂

What I’m looking forward to next month: I’m starting the month hiking with my mom and sisters in Utah, and then Jon and I are spending our first wedding anniversary in Paris and London! It seems like I’ve been counting down to these trips for forever, and now they’re finally happening!

What are you looking forward to in May?
