Hi friends, welcome back and come on in! I’ve got a holly jolly home tour for you today. Babyproofing my decorations has been in the back of my mind for months and I think I succeeded. I did most of the decorations while Violet was napping and she came out and started clapping so I think I did a good job. She loves the tree and so far hasn’t taken anything off.

Besides the tree, I was wracking my brain trying to figure out how to hang our stockings. I used to have very heavy stocking holders but I could easily see those being yanked off the table, so I pivoted to command hooks and I think it looks nice and clean.

The living room I kept mostly the same although I took all the fragile/sentimental ornaments and moved them to our tree so it looks a little bare to me compared to normal.

The kitchen is home to most of my Santa collection.

Some new plates I’m adding to the rotation this year. I have them in salad & dinner plates.

Some of my other dishes & mugs collection. Anthropologie has the cutest holiday mugs in my opinion.

I usually leave this tree with just lights in our bedroom, but it’s a safe space for fragile ornaments this year.

Violet’s room has the only new decorations this year. I got her some flannel sheets, updated her book case, and displayed her Christmas quilt made by her great grandma.

Hope you enjoyed this festive apartment tour and have a Happy Thanksgiving!
So festive! Happy Thanksgiving! 🦃
Thank you! Happy Thanksgiving to you too!
Looks so festive! We also do the holiday bookshelf in our little one’s room. Something she always looks forward to 🙂
Thank you! It’s fun to bring out the new books although she seems to only want to read Little Blue Trucks Christmas.
Lyssy, it looks absolutely lovely. Not only do you have a great eye for this sort of thing but also a real talent for when knowing enough is enough. My OH will be putting the tree up this weekend which he loves doing and I’ll add a few festive decorations around the apartment.
Thank you! It’s a fine line between festive and too much for sure. The tree is my least favorite part so I always save that for last.
Your apartment looks perfect for Christmas. I can’t remember, will this be Violet’s first or was she born before Christmas? We won’t be home for Christmas this year, so I’ll enjoy your decorations instead. Maggie
Thank you! She was born before Christmas but it feels like her first now that she is aware of things and on the move. You can enjoy them without any of the cleanup/takedown 🙂
Perfectly decorate as usual Lyssy. Thanks for taking us on the tour. Allan
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it:)
Your whole apartment looks lovely!
Thank you!
Very beautiful and festive! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and holiday season ahead!
Thank you! Hope you have a great Thanksgiving and holiday season too!
Is that nativity set made from olive wood from Israel? It is beautiful.
Yes! Jon’s parents went to Isreal a few years ago and brought that back for us.
Wow, it looks so beautiful, Lyssy. I am very impressed by Violet’s Christmas book display and your creative take on hanging up the stockings. It takes a lot to babyproof a Christmas tree and to prevent your little one from destroying Christmas décor. One of my solutions is getting a cute train to go around the bottom of the tree, which is a distraction that keeps my little cherub busy and away from those pricey baubles. Thanks for sharing, and have a good day 🙂 Aiva xx
Thank you! I love getting out the different books but now she’s opinionated and only wants to read the same one..That is a great idea! Jon’s mom said she has his from when he was a kid we could put around the tree. Sounds like a good project for him one day!
🥰🥰🥰
Looks absolutely beautiful. Congratulations on your little girl. I hadn’t been on much to hear about her birth (and I can finally comment again)!
Thank you!! I took quite a while off from blogging so you haven’t missed much.
Ohoh, so many exciting new stuff for your little elf to explore, I imagine the temptation must be high.
Thankfully she’s only gone after the indestructible things so far. She is very curious!
Your home is beautiful! I remember when my girls were little they wouldn’t leave the Christmas tree alone. I love all the Christmas books, how cute!
Thank you! For some reason she tried grabbing the ornaments off my fancy tree but won’t touch the big one. Kids are funny!
Hi can you please share my website please on your page.. Or reblog one of my stories 🙏🙏
We very need you’r hlep!
Please please🙏🙏
Awww I love the tree. And Violets first Christmas little decorations- too cute. Happy Thanksgiving 😊
Thank you!! I had forgotten all about her first Christmas decorations. Crazy how little she used to be.
Your festive apartment decorations look just as lovely as ever and I really like the quilt in Violet’s room.
Thank you! I always say I’m not putting out as much as usual, but I just can’t help myself 🙂
I’m just on my way home from several weeks ago and I’ve got my.husband well organised as he was instructed to buy two.large, bushy trees, put the lights on and get all the decorations out of the attic for me to put on when I get home. We have one in the lounge and the other in the kitchen!
What a wonderful sight to come home to! I bet your home smells heavenly from those trees. Your husband is well trained! Happy decorating 🙂
Nicely done with all the Christmas decor. Our little one is obsessed with the tree too, except knows how to pull some of the ornaments off the lower branches.
Thank you! Violet discovered the little tree in my room and tried to grab an ornament, but won’t touch the big tree. Kids are funny! Maybe you’ll find random ornaments around the house in a few months ha!
Our daughter has similar challenges with shiny decorations and little sets of hands. Her 2.5 year old daughter watched “The Grinch…” for the first time (the relatively mild animated version) and was glued from start to finish. Now she’s no longer afraid of her Grinch finger puppet. I like your Christmas plates because the scenes have a three-dimensional feel to them. Is there a story behind the small painting of the waterfront buildings on the window shelf?
Oh that is too precious! I did read The Grinch to Violet already so I think she might like to watch the cartoon. Will give her a nice break from all the football and college basketball she watches. My grandpa painted that almost 25 years ago. He never traveled so I don’t think there’s a story. In the winter he would clip out pictures from magazines and paint them, so I’m guessing that’s where the inspiration came from.
Football! Basketball! You’re raising your daughter right already 😉 And congrats on your new coach. Spartan football needs to be relevant again and he’s a good choice to make it happen.
Yeah people seem to like that hire! Pretty embarrassing football the last few years. Tom Izzo never lets me down. They’ve had some good wins this year. I figure sports can’t be too overstimulating 🤣
Absolutely adore the “mistletoes” ornament. What a clever idea! Oh, and that painted picture of the Amalfi Coast has to bring back some fantastic memories! Those quilts are quite special when they’ve been made by a great grandmother. Beautiful!
It was so hard to get those mistletoes, but they sure are cute! Violet is lucky to have some great grandparents still.
Lovely as always! The stockings and festive blankets are my favorite.
I love all your decorations, and we are in the same phase right now, trying to super baby proof everything too!
