Hi friends, welcome back! This past weekend we finally made it back to Central Park for the first time since our maternity pictures a year ago. It was a warm, sunny day and we made it just in time to see all the beautiful fall colors. We weren’t sure how much of the park we’d see, but Violet loved the change of scenery so we ended up walking the whole length of the park. Our walk started at the northern most part of the park overlooking Harlem Meer. This area has been under construction for a few years and is finally almost done. They’ve added a large public pool and walking paths.

This is what it looked like April 2024.

The Conservatory Garden is one of my favorite parts of Central Park although I think it looks best in the spring when the cherry blossoms are blooming.

The skyline in NYC has forever changed with the addition of JP Morgan’s new headquarters. It is the one that is tiered like a wedding cake on the left hand side.

This is from April 2024.

This is from April 2023.

The Pool is one of my favorite spots for fall photos.

It was a beautiful walk! The further south we got, the busier the park got. Everyone had the same idea as us to enjoy the one of the last nice days before the parkas come out.

We made it to Bethesda Fountain overlooking The Lake and The Boat House.

Bow Bridge is always the best spot to photograph the fall colors.

The Mall had sadly lost all its leaves.

The ice rink is open for the season!

Last but not least, Gapstow Bridge and The Pond.

I hope you enjoyed this fall tour! I somehow hadn’t posted a full tour since 2022! We had such a great time introducing Violet to Central Park and enjoying the perfect fall day. It’s hard to beat fall in NYC! This officially wraps up fall on the blog. Next week I’ll be switching over to Christmas mode starting with my bucket list 🙂 I saw this on my walk yesterday, the city is getting ready!

Looks like a beautiful day! Muted colors this fall.
It was a great fall day!
Absolutely gorgeous colours, I can understand why Violet was entranced.
We made it just in time! She always enjoys walking somewhere new.
I had no idea there had been an addition to the skyline.
Beautiful photos and colors, as always. The leaves are mostly gone here already, so it was nice to see some colors here. It is a little weird to see Christmas lights being wrapped around trees with yellow leaves, though!
Yes, A 3 billion dollar addition! Thank you! It is weird to see the fall leaves with some Christmas lights. Those trees always seem to hang on late.
Stunning shots of the fall colours. love all the reflections in the water. I bet Violet loved the stroll through Central Park. Sadly most of our leaves are gone now. We even had our first snowfall on Sunday.
Thank you! We brought her travel stroller so she got to face out and she always loves that! Winter is coming! We just got a few flakes today. The nice weather was good while it lasted.
Such beautiful photos! It looks like a really lovely day to be out exploring.
Thank you! It was a nice day, glad we got out before the cold!!
It looks so magical there, and I love the city views with the bright autumn leaves!
The fall really is a special time in NYC!
Beautiful autumnal colours in Central Park Lyssy. I’m sure Violet enjoyed the fresh air and colours as much as you.
I was happy we made it just in time. We all enjoyed the change of scenery and fresh air for sure.
Central Park is gorgeous in the fall. I can’t pick a favourite between all of those wonderful water pictures. Maggie
It really shines in the fall! The water pictures are always my favorite too.
Gorgeous! NYC is certainly vibrant with fall foliage– wish there was a bit of that here in LA! Lovely views of Central Park and also the NYC skyline; have a wonderful rest of autumn, and here’s to the holiday season rapidly approaching!
It is nice to have all four seasons even if I don’t like them all ha! Hope you have a great rest of fall and great holiday season! Only about 6 weeks until Christmas!
So beautiful Lyssy. Our fall foliage back home is long gone and snow has come and gone at least once. Meanwhile in NZ, we are having our 5th spring pf 2025. So confusing. Have a great day. Allan
Thank you! We finally got some flurries today, must’ve known I was decorating today. I am looking forward to reading about your trip!
Our oak trees are literally days from dumping their leaves, so I’d agree you caught the Park just in time! Nice to see blooms this close to winter. Even nicer to see so many people strolling and relaxing in the sunshine at the fountain. Have you and Jon ever taken a rowboat out on the lake? Or ice skated (which always makes me think of “Serendipity”)? Finally, the architect in me really struggles with the pencil towers, Lyssy. If I remove them from the skyline – and even keep the wedding cake – I find the look so much more cohesive. Maybe decades from now there will be so many pencils it won’t look like a smattering of “smokestacks” it appears to be now 🙂
I was a little worried we’d miss it. I could see glimpses of the park when I was looking at the Halloween decor and it was very close to peak. I’ve never taken the row boat out but I’ve always wanted to although I wouldn’t want people watching me not know how to row. Never ice skated either, not good at stopping ha. The sky scraper next to the JP Morgan building is very controversial too. Apparently they didn’t put stoppers in the trash shoot so it goes all the way to the bottom and sounds like a bomb going off.
It’s so convenient to have Central Park on your doorstep, allowing you to immerse yourself in nature at its finest. Fall certainly does not disappoint, with trees carefully selected over time by skilled gardeners.
It is! We realized it’s not too much work to get out and about with a stroller on the subway. Fall really is a special time in NYC!
So beautiful seeing all the Fall colours – glad you had a great day out and Violet enjoyed it 🙂
It was a beautiful day! Violet is wondering why we haven’t taken her before ha!
Gorgeous colours and weather. What a lovely introduction to the ark for little Violet. I loved seeing the photos of the skyline from previous years.
violet is gonna love central park as she grows 💜
