NYC Upper East Side Halloween Decor 2025 – Part One

Hi friends, welcome back! I’ve got part one of my Upper East Side Halloween Décor tour for you today. The Upper East Side is my favorite neighborhood for Halloween decorations, and they really go all out. It’s a different vibe compared to the West Village decorations. The Upper East Siders seem to prefer creepier displays, mischievous skeletons, cobwebs, and a more is more approach. Last year I was a bit limited in what I could see, so this year I made up for it and zig zagged my way across the avenues from 59th Street to 96th Street. It took me about two hours and over 13,000 steps. Today I’ll share the highlights from 61st Street to 74th Street.

    1. I always enjoy doing the tours 🙂 My neighborhood growing up definitely didn’t decorate like this haha

  1. Next year Violet will really enjoy these decorations while you walk her in her stroller.

    1. Glad to hear that! Halloween is really big in the city. Quite a few streets close on Halloween so the kids can trick or treat and there’s a big parade in the West Village Halloween night.

  2. I see what you mean, those dolls and the cemetery are especially creepy. I wouldn’t want to be walking by the dolls on Halloween night! But I do love their creativity. 😊 Maggie

    1. I wouldn’t want to be walking by them at night either! Some of the things move and make noise too…

  3. Some seriously prime property porn here with delightful architectural details and handsome doors. The Halloween decor is amazing. Do people do it themselves or hire designners?

    1. There are some really pretty townhomes behind all the decor! I’ve seen crews putting up decor before so I’m guessing it’s mostly hired.

  4. Goodness! 13,000 steps?! That’s a lot to cover, but awesome you got your steps in. Helps that the homes are gorgeous and decked out in Halloween décor! I personally like the pink home with the jack o’ lanterns on 64th between Fifth and Madison. Thanks for sharing more of the festive cheer with us, Lyssy!

    1. The decorations are really spread out! I planned the most efficient route too, but it is such a pretty walk. That’s a fun one! I enjoy all the variety of decorations and homes.

    1. They really do! The haunted carnival was a new street for me this year and it had a lot of good participants.

  5. Great pictures. Wow, you share so many creative expressions of Halloween. A very ambitious walk–all those steps! A big spooky thank you:))))))))))

  6. The creepy clowns always get to me (as in the carnival themed place). Some of the displays have me wondering where the owners store all this stuff when it’s not being used – similar to your own challenges. Also, are these walk-ups still single residences or have they been split into several? There must be a back entrance since many of the front doors are blocked. Living on four levels – I’d have to think long and hard before opting for that kind of setup 🙂
