What’s Up: April 2024

Hi friends, welcome back and happy May! April flew by and we kept busy celebrating our friend’s birthday, enjoyed all the blooms and nice spring weather, saw the partial solar eclipse, Jon had to go back to Miami, we enjoyed the conclusion of March Madness, joined a food tour that left a bit to be desired, and wished we could walk the beautiful grounds of Augusta National.

On to my post 🙂 I’ve been linking up with the first blogger I ever read, Shay Shull, for my What’s Up posts. Each month I’m answering the following questions:

What I’m eating: the wedding we went to in San Francisco served the most food I’ve ever seen. It was family style so we could try everything, and we were all so stuffed by the end of the meal! My favorite course was the Pan Fried Tiger Prawns in Maggi Sauce.

What I’m reminiscing about: this May will mark my six year anniversary of living in NYC!

What I’m loving: all the spring blooms! The weather has also been pretty nice. Some years it goes from 50-80 in a matter of weeks with no in between, so we’re enjoying the nice temps while we can.

Favorite post of the month: Central Park Spring Tour Part One – I loved the canopy of cherry blossoms along the reservoir.

What I’m Up to: we got Mario Kart for our Nintendo Switch so we’ve been playing that a lot

What I’m working on: my Miami series – I’ve got three more posts coming up 🙂

What I’m excited about: our three-year wedding anniversary is in a few weeks, time sure has flown by! To celebrate we’ve got a reservation at a Michelin Star Mexican restaurant that’s been on my radar.

What I’m watching/reading: Full Swing, Flipping Out, Abbott Elementary, The Middle, Golf, The Holdovers, and Argyle.

Books I read this month:

  • The Burnout by Sophie Kinsella
  • First Lie Wins by Ashley Elston

What I’m doing this weekend: I finally got tickets from my library to visit the Whitney Museum

What I’m looking forward to next month: celebrating our anniversary and hopefully we’ll think of something fun to do for Memorial Day Weekend, although the weather is usually pretty dicey!

What are you looking forward to in May?

  1. Always good to fill the days with happy memories Lyssy. Your August was jam packed for sure. Congratulations on your upcoming 3 year anniversary. How quickly the years go by. Happy Wednesday. Allan

    1. Our trip to San Fran wiped us out, we were only there for 36 hours, but the flight there was 6.5 hours. Easier to get to London. Thank you, the years sure do go by fast!

  2. Sounds like a wonderful April with plenty of travel, good food, and everything in between! I take it the wedding you went to was a Chinese one? The food looked so good there! April was an okay month for me, and I figure May will also be just-okay, with work and whatnot, haha. But I’m definitely looking forward to some upcoming summer travels! Wishing you a wonderful May ahead!

    1. Yes it was our first Chinese wedding! They didn’t want dancing so they rented out an arcade after and we had a great time. It’s always great to have some summer travels to look forward to!

  3. Delighted you’re finally making it to the Witney and looking forward to hearing about your Mexican meal to celebrate your 3rd anniversary. We’re in Spain with our bikes for much of May which’ll be fun.

    1. The Whitney has been on my list for years, glad to finally visit! Sounds like an incredible May for you guys 🙂

  4. I’m going to send that wedding menu to my son – he’s getting married next year – He’ll pass out when he sees it!!!
Highlights of May so far ….Bruce Springsteen in Belfast on 9th and Cork on 16th!!! Opposite ends of the country! We’ll drive back to Dublin after each concert.
Have a lovely anniversary – where did those 3 years go!!!!!

    1. I think there were between 160-175 people at the wedding too! Wow my mom loves the Boss! Sounds like a wonderful May!
Thank you!! Time sure does fly by!

  5. April sounds like it was full of adventures, and I love all your flower photos of the city, very beautiful! I am also excited to read more of your Miami series. I have been in Florida before, but never there, so it is neat to see the details of the area!

    1. Thank you! The city really is so pretty in the spring! It’s interesting how different all the cities in Florida are.

  6. Looks like you had a wonderful April, Lussy. I still can’t believe how beautiful New York is during the spring with so many colourful blooms taking over the city, especially tulips. I should keep that in mind if we ever plan to travel to your part of the world, but then again, winter and autumn are beautiful too and offer their own magic. Thanks for sharing, and have fun visiting the Whitney Museum 🙂 Aiva xx

    1. NYC is so pretty in the spring! I can never decide if I like it better in the fall or the spring. I’ll report back not he Whitney soon 🙂

  7. Sounds like you had a wonderful month of April! The spring blooms in NYC look absolutely lovely! And congrats for your wedding anniversary, I’m sure the restaurant will be lovely!

  8. Fingers crossed for good weather on Labor Day! I remember one year when we were in CT it was 95 degrees and so humid. Hopefully your lovely spring weather continues this year.

  9. A wonderful and eventful month, Lyssy. So many great posts you published in April as well. A Michelin Star Mexican sounds like a great choice for your anniversary dinner. Congratulations!
