Switzerland – Trübsee

Hi friends, welcome back to my Switzerland series! After exploring Mount Titlis, Jon and I headed back down the revolving cable car to the Trübsee intermediary station. Here there are a few places to eat, restrooms (the cable car bathrooms in Switzerland are incredibly clean), a playground, and where you catch the cable car back to the valley station. There is also an adventure park with a zip line and trampolines, but we preferred a peaceful stroll beside the alpine lake.

Along Trübsee there’s an easy two-mile, mostly flat walking path. We decided to walk counter clockwise but either way would be equally gorgeous.

If you want to reflect or stop to enjoy all the beauty, there are benches sprinkled throughout the path. We scoped one out and marveled at how it felt like we were living inside a painting.

I especially loved the color of the water. Alpine likes are my favorite with the mountains in the background contrasting with the turquoise hue of the lake.

One of my favorite things about hiking in Switzerland was the happy cows roaming free on the mountainside. They all wear large bells so you can hear them all over the mountainsides.

Oh how I loved Trubsee!

Eventually we were ready to head back down and catch the train back to Lucerne, this time it wasn’t so crowded. We absolutely loved our day at Mount Titlis and would highly recommend taking a day trip from Lucerne here. The forty-five minute train ride was simple and the views were incredible. We also loved that Titlis had a lot to offer with the cliff walk, ice cave, and the option for a peaceful stroll along Trübsee. Mount Pilatus is another popular day trip from Lucerne, but it requires taking boats, trains, and gondolas and we prefer the path of least resistance.

Jon and I made it back to Lucerne and took a boat ride on Lake Lucerne, but it was miserably hot and the seats were mostly inside. If we had more time in the city I would’ve planned a better boat cruise, maybe next time! We thought Lucerne was the perfect spot to begin our trip in Switzerland. We loved the charming old town and the beauty of Lake Lucerne. It’s also conveniently located and well connected to other parts of the country by public transportation.  We weren’t ready to leave Lucerne quite yet, but we were so excited to explore the beautiful Berner Oberland region!
