Hi friends, welcome back! This weekend we had an extra special day celebrating Jon’s birthday. We were traveling the weekend before and weekend after, so we planned a relaxing day with brunch at one of the most popular Italian spots in NYC. Last year we went out for brunch and dinner and felt like we were on the verge of exploding, so we kept it to one big meal this year now that we’re older and wiser.
We started the day slowly with some iced lattes at Black Fox.
I snagged a reservation at L’Artusi in the West Village and we honestly thought this restaurant was better than some we went to in Italy. Reservations go live at 9am fourteen days in advance and it’s a pretty large space, so it’s easier to get a reservation compared to Don Angie. We started with some delicious burrata on sourdough bread and cocktails.
Jon ordered the Taglitele with Bolognese bianco and parmigiano.
I opted for the Bucatini with pancetta, tomato, chilies, and pecorino. We’d highly recommend both pasta dishes, they were so tasty!
For dessert we shared the Salted Chocolate Cake with caramel popcorn and bourbon gelato. It was the perfect way to end a delicious meal! We’d definitely go back to L’Artusi to try more on the menu, especially the steak and other pasta dishes.
This year, Jon requested a chocolate chip pizookie (pizza cookie) instead of a cake. I found this recipe from Pinterest and got to baking. We added a scoop of ice cream and it was delicious!
Jon had a great birthday and felt the love of birthday wishes from family and friends! Here’s to another great year!
