Berchtesgaden, Bavaria – Maria Gern, Hintersee, and Ramsau

Hi friends, welcome back to my Germany and Austria series 🙂 After our incredible boat trip on Königssee, we hopped back in the car for more sightseeing. When I was planning this trip, I had a list of all the beautiful places I wanted to see and used that to make my itinerary. I knew the weather might be questionable, so I prepared myself to go with the flow and prioritize my top sights. On this afternoon we knocked out some of the places on my list and enjoyed the beautiful drives along the way.

Our first stop was at Hintersee, but it was a little underwhelming compared to the other lakes we saw.

About five minutes away was The Church of St. Sebastian in Ramsau, one of the most picturesque churches I’ve ever seen. It was a bit cloudy, but that added some moodiness to my pictures. If you don’t feel like travelling to see this church, you can watch the live webcam here.

Maria Gern is another beautiful church surrounded by mountains and a roaming countryside. We walked up an extremely steep road to get this view and I couldn’t get over how majestic the mountains were in the background. I knew Germany would be beautiful, but it completely surpassed all my high expectations.

For dinner we were both craving pizza and this one from Pizza Jolley hit the spot!

The following morning it was beautiful with hardly a cloud in the sky! We had a quick breakfast and then checked out the views outside. We had to get a pic with the swings 🙂

From our balcony we could see Eagles Nest where we were headed next to conclude our time in Berchtesgaden.

Stay tuned for our time at Eagles Nest that inspired this trip!
