What’s Up: April 2021

Hi friends, welcome back! This month totally flew by, but I’m not complaining! Jon and I had a picnic in Central Park, went out to eat for the first time in months, got out first vaccine dose, and had a virtual bridal shower. The weather is warming up in NYC and spring fever is in the air! More and more people are out and about, and with the low cases and high vaccination rates, I am very optimistic things are headed back to some sort of normalcy. I’ll need to start revisiting the foodie bucket list I made at the beginning of quarantine!

On to my post 🙂 I’ve been linking up with my first and favorite blogger I ever read, Shay Shull, for my What’s Up posts. Each month I’m answering the following questions:

What I’m eating: we’ve been eating a lot of takeout lately and have finally found our go-to places after over a year at home. Lately our go to is Arbor Bistro and we get fried dumplings, Pad Thai for Jon, and Beef & Broccoli for me. We are also going to try some of their sushi rolls, the one below was yummy!

What I’m reminiscing about: moving to NYC! I officially moved Memorial Day Weekend in 2018, and soon it will be my three-year anniversary of living in the Big Apple! The years seem to have flown by, and we still aren’t ready to move out, especially now that things are opening back up. The last month we started going out more and the city is starting to feel more alive! I am excited for things to get back to the new normal and to be able to go out to dinner again and one day see Broadway Shows! We are going to take full advantage of city life before we start settling down

What I’m loving: busy season is over, the weather is great, and I’m getting married in three and a half weeks, needless to say I love everything right now haha

What I’m dreading: I have my second dose of the vaccine next week, so I am a little nervous for the side effects, but I am so happy and relieved to be able to be fully vaccinated before my wedding 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

What I’m Up to: all the little wedding details we always said we had a year to figure out ha! We are very lucky to have our parents helping out so much, so Jon and I don’t have to stress

What I’m working on: finishing our honeymoon itinerary! We officially decided on Half Moon Bay, CA, Lake Tahoe, and then ending in Yosemite! In Yosemite we will most likely be off the grid with no WIFI so I am trying to pick which hikes we will do and plan everything out while I have the internet at my fingertips!

What I’m excited about: all the wedding things!! After waiting another year, I’m extremely ready and excited for our big day 🙂

What I’m watching/reading: I’m reading All The Light We Cannot See and I’m about halfway through and love it! I like that the chapters are short and alternate between characters so I can easily read a few chapters a night.

We enjoyed watching Ginny & Georgia, and now we are on Virgin River. We have also been watching the Marvel movies on the weekend in their chronological timeline order. This weekend we watched Free Solo in anticipation of our Yosemite trip, and my hands were sweaty the whole time even though I knew how it would end. I’d highly recommend watching the documentary, it’s very inspiring, mind-blowing, and entertaining.

What I’m doing this weekend: I have two more virtual showers that I am excited about 🙂

What I’m looking forward to next month: I might’ve mentioned this above, but WE’RE GETTING MARRIED and going on our honeymoon! 👰🏻🤵🏻💒🥂💕✈️

Thanks for reading! Hope you have a great May!

  1. Free Solo is mind blowing! We saw it recently. The honeymoon itinerary sounds awesome. Funnily enough, we are making our own honeymoon plans as we’ll be getting married this June. Just looking at the surrounding Balkan countries: Croatia, Romania, Bosnia. We have our favorite Chinese joint for takeaway dumplings. One portion contains 14 pieces and we complain how little that is! Not sure how we would feel about getting just six:)

    1. Congratulations on your upcoming nuptials Leighton! That will be a beautiful honeymoon, how exciting!! That’s funny – I’m sure you’re dumplings are a way better value!! I’m so used to crazy NYC prices anywhere else seems like a deal ha!

  2. I’ll be curious to get your take on Tahoe, since you’ve already visited so many New England and Midwest lakes and ponds. Hopefully you’ll hike a shore trail or two and just take in the natural beauty of the area. The north shore (Tahoe City, etc.) is much more your style than busy South Lake. Would recommend Jake’s On The Lake for a romantic waterfront dinner.

    1. I am sure I’ll love it, I love being by the water! We will be doing lots of hiking and enjoying the beautiful scenery and fresh air. I have heard similar things about north vs south shore. I believe we are staying in both spots, so should be interesting to see. Thanks for the recommendation!!

  3. Whooo hoooo for your wedding finally happening and that honeymoon sounds pretty perfect! Enjoy all the preparations for your big day and YAY for being fully vaccinated!!!

    1. Haha yes all the cheers for finally getting married and honeymooning!! Thank you so much!! Such a relief to be vaccinated!
