New York Botanical Garden Orchid Show 2026

Hi friends, welcome back! The day before we got pummeled by the blizzard, we had a lovely day at the New York Botanical Garden. They are hosting their 23rd annual orchid show and it was the perfect place to disassociate from winter. This year’s theme is The Orchid Show: Mr. Flower Fantastic’s Concrete Jungle. Mr. Flower Fantastic is a Queens native floral artist that designed this year’s show as a tribute to the resiliency of orchids and NYC.

Mr. Flower Fantastic said, “This show shines a light on spaces and places that might get overlooked. There’s a beautiful chaos in the concrete jungle, and life in bloom. This show is my offering to you, a seed to plant in people’s hearts and minds…”

I love the nod to the subway here, a clever touch.

The NYBG describes the show as “An homage to his hometown, Mr. Flower Fantastic’s Concrete Jungle reimagines some of New York City’s most important but often overlooked spaces-from slice shops to laundromats-showing that life blooms in the in-between moments and in those where we come together. MFF invites us to imagine a New York where flowers are rooted in the living fabric of the city, where orchids transform icons of the everyday, and a greener world is possible.”

The orchids in my house never quite thrived like these.

The show runs through April 26th and you can visit Tuesday through Sunday from 10am-6pm. We went the weekend after Valentine’s Day and right before the blizzard so there weren’t any crowds. Last year we made the mistake of going on Easter weekend and it was a zoo! It’s always a great day at the botanical garden, but I think this orchid show is a must see for flower enthusiasts.
