Hi friends, welcome back! I wanted to share some pictures from the massive snowstorm NYC got pummeled by this week, I felt like I was living inside a violently shaken snow globe! The wind was howling so loudly around 40mph, and the snow was blowing in every direction possible. It was truly unlike anything I’d ever seen before and I was able to enjoy it all from the comfort of my warm apartment.
When we went to bed Sunday there was a light dusting, but Monday morning we woke up to a blizzard! The visibility was so low that it was quite dark in our apartment and I could hardly see the apartment across the way.
I loved watching the storm out the window, I almost felt like a kid excited about a snowday, but sadly remote working doesn’t lend to a snowday.
I wasn’t brave enough to venture outside for a picture Monday, but yesterday Jon and I walked to Wall Street to check it out.
I was amazed at how fast they were able to clear the snow!! I was hoping the whole area would be blanketed in pretty, white snow, but it was a wet sidewalk with giant snowbanks. I believe the subway underground is partly to blame for that because it keeps the ground relatively warm so the snow melts faster.
These massive trucks were clearing the snow so fast into these giant snow piles!
Here is the view from my kitchen window yesterday, you can see it has been cleared rather well outside.
In the background is the East River and Brooklyn Bridge, but the visibility wasn’t great this afternoon.
I am still dreaming of visiting Central Park in a winter storm like this, maybe next year! Hope you are all staying nice and warm 🙂
