Tonchin NYC- Michelin Star Ramen

Hi friends, happy Monday! Hope you all stayed warm this weekend! The cold weather had Jon and I craving some ramen, so we decided to check out the Michelin star restaurant Tonchin. It’s conveniently located near Penn Station and Madison Square Garden which makes the restaurant easily accessible from almost every subway line. Jon and I went around 4pm on a Saturday for a late lunch and it was pretty crowded, always a good sign! We waited about fifteen minutes and then got seated at a more private spot at the end of the bar.

We started with some drinks, I got the house white wine and Jon got the Toki Whisky Highball. We figured we might as well because it was technically happy hour 😉

For appetizers, Jon and I shared the Tonchin Chicken Tsukune bun. We usually start out with some type of bun at a ramen/noodle restaurant and this one was delicious! It was different than other ones I’ve had because it wasn’t as sweet.

For entrees, I ordered the Tonchin Classic Tokyo Tonkotsu Ramen with homemade noodles, tokyo tonkotsu broth, roasted pork, egg, scallion, menma, and seaweed. The broth was the best I’ve ever had! My only complaint was that there wasn’t that much pork, but I was very full afterwards! It was the perfect meal for a chilly day!

Jon ordered the Spicy Tan Tan Ramen with homemade noodles, tokyo tonkotsu broth, roasted pork, egg, scallion, menma, crushed nuts, miso, and chili pepper. Jon’s thoughts: it was very good, but equally spicy!

We both thought Tonchin’s ramen was the best we’ve ever had! The prices were very reasonable for a Michelin star restaurant, our entrees were both a little less than $20. I’d highly recommend trying out Tonchin, especially on a chilly day!
