A Weekend in NYC

I finally made it back to NYC for the first time since my Valentine’s Day Weekend. I planned this trip to give me something to look forward to during busy season. I took off Friday and then flew out at 1:45pm. My flight out was so easy and I didn’t have any delays. I worked on some blog posts and listened to music and was there in no time.

I’ve always flown to NYC Thursday night so it was interesting to see how much we were flying over the ocean. It always freaks me out a little when I don’t see land and the plane’s about to touch down.

I got in a taxi and it took 1.5 hours to get to the apartment from Laguardia. I was so hangry and frustrated with that traffic that by the time I got to the apartment I was not in the greatest mood. Jon was still at work and I walked in and saw the card, chocolate, and journal on the counter. It turned my day around and I couldn’t wait for him to get home. He’s so sweet and thoughtful😊

Friday night we went to the grocery store and got a lot of ice cream, chicken, and avocados. Jon made guacamole for us and we watched This is Us.

This view from the apartment never gets old to me, I could just stare at the water all day long.

We went to Brooklyn to workout with some friends at a cool powerlifting gym. Everyone there was crazy strong! You can see my workout and more pictures here.

After the workout we wanted to grab an early dinner, so we went to Pies’N’Thighs and it was delicious! You can read about it on Lyssy’s Eats here.

Jon and I went to Bed Bath & Beyond and Trader Joes’ on the way home. Errands are always better when we are together, especially when the checkout line is long. We got some new plates and bowls, and a lot of naan bread. TJs surprisingly didn’t have a long line, there are over 30 registers so it’s usually pretty fast.

We finished This Is Us and are now in a show-hole, any recommendations out there for a new show??

On Sunday we saw Carly (Jon’s sister) dance and I felt like such a proud parent. She dances so beautifully and looks so happy while she’s dancing. I hadn’t seen her dance since we were in high school.

We went to a Mexican place for dinner afterwards and had some margaritas, chips and salsa, and I got some mahi mahi tacos that were really good. I was so surprised how many people were out on a Sunday night, I’m still getting used to the hustle and bustle of the city 😀

On Monday Jon went into the office and I worked from home. I went to visit my firm’s NY office and got a tour. It was the first time I’ve ever taken the subway by myself and I didn’t get lost or put my card in the wrong way. I’m becoming an adult. The office was in a great location and isn’t too far from Jon’s office which is very convenient.

Tuesday I flew back to Michigan and surprisingly didn’t have any delays. The weather was great all weekend and I’m already wishing I was back there. The city is starting to grow on me and not seem so scary.
